CTDs after WU6

Is the sim working for you now since WU6, if so that's good news after all the issues you had with it before..

Yeah, have only done a couple of flights yet but they’ve been flawless.

Just for clarity..

if you have an ntdll.dll error.. thats a windows error on a default installation.

if you have a clr.dll issue, thats an issue with your NET4.0 implementation.   clr.dll was new with NET4.0  before that it was mscorwks.dll ( which has also been a bane for some previous flight sims)

Now, either "could" be an MSFS issue, but probably isn't because all MSFS will be doing is using those dll's as a library and a failure in the library is outside MSFS's control.

Hopefully this will help some try to focus on the errors.

@Swe_Richard Follow the link in my other post - you get an ISO  with the last version of Windows. You will only need to update defender.

That is indeed good to know. Will absolutely make use of that when/if I reinstall. Didn't think they made ISOs available like that.

Just to add

LSGS will not load (addon) and that is an example of many add on Marketplace airports that don't load in in WU6. Otherwise all good with Bijan trees, CJ4, WT G3000 and TBM mod.

I understand that the /.cll and NTDLL errors are Windows components. What I don't know is IF because they are always in conjunction with the Asus Armory error if it is Windows or the Asus program that is causing the CTD. Like I said above I have since removed ALL Asus stuff so we will see what happens later today. I do know that IF I reinstall Windows it will be Win10 and not Win11, even though I really like some of the features of Win11.

Another question Moria, since I am running Win11 my NET 4.0 is really NET 4.8. Could that be an issue?

Additional info

Ryzen 7 5800 x3D, Asus Tuf Gaming X570 Plus, Geforce GTX 4080 F.E., 32GB Corsair PC-3600, 1TB Samsung Evo 970 nVME SSD, 1TB Samsung Evo 870 SSD, 500GB Samsung Evo 870 SSD

That doesn't seem to have fixed anything. 3 CTD's while trying a flight. 2 of them after clicking Fly and the 3rd wile on an ILS approach into San Juan. Back to the drawing board.

Tried a lot of different suggested solutions today:
Repairing and re-installing .net framework, clearing the page file, uninstalling old Visual C++ framework and installing a new version, and even running the sim in offline mode, but nothing helped.
Some times I would be allowed to fly for over an hour, but most of the time it crashed to desktop within 10 minutes.

Re-installing Windows is too much work just to fix this problem, so I'm just gonna hold on for an update that actually fixes this.

I am afraid that any MSFS update might not fix your issue. I did a 4 hours flight with the FBW A32NX. All on Ultra. Not a stutter not a crash on my PC. So it looks the issue is definitely on your side. Maybe a windows update might fix your issue more than a MSFS update

So an Asobo update makes Windows 10 unstable... Interesting.

No. it's more MSFS exposing a Windows issue that you didn't know you have. NTDLL.DLL is a kernel library. So it could be some drivers or even a faulty memory issue. It's hard to tell. There is a lot of article on how to fix NTDLL.DLL error and they vary in wide range of fixes. It's not as straight forward as you think. This is windows for you.

But on the other hand, MSFS did not expose this prior to SU5 (at least on my side no single CTD before SU5)... And if  SFC /Scannow does not find any faulty system files how can there be issues with the OS? Still not 100% convinced but might be reinstalling windows over the weekend...

Repairing Microsoft.NET ok, but how do you reinstall it? I thought the latest net versions are an integrated part of WIN 10 which can only be upgraded/updated but not uninstalled and reinstalled...

SFC/SCANNOW is not the Gold of finding everything, there still can be a thousend other things they play a role for sutch issues, Windows can be difficult if some things are broken..

I was getting ctd from kdfw. Runway 18L, sid TRYTN3 if anyone wants to try. About maybe 20 miles from corts it would ctd. This is with the dev version of the FBW. I'm using default high settings. I switched planes, empty community folder and the same ctd at the same place.

I decided to load up optimal default for my bios and removed xmp profile and that finally worked. No more ctd flying out of dfw. Btw the crash error was always clr.dll
