Bad look of clouds

Strange, from your screenshot, yes it does look terrible. I don't have that on my end at all.

I dont know about your samsung .. I dont have one .. but i know with certainty that there is a Radeon setting that gives the exact same effect as super resolution spacer.png

Please refer to the setting "Radeon Image Sharpening" ..

This is my setup spacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.png

I know, it's terrible. The good thing is that I think it's just me, so it must be some wrong setting of me spacer.png

@elee  My XBox S has a similar graininess at the fringes of some clouds but my nVidia GTX1070 doesn't do it.

Have you tried a different driver?

also note that I have not seen the effect you showed earlier with the really grainy higher level clouds.  But I fly at low altitudes (3 to 5k feet)

you should report that to the zendesk I think.

They are very grainy on High for sure

I ask. Is there a way to reload the clouds or delete some image cache in case something is broken?

From what I have read, it seems to me that nobody has the problem that I have. This image reflects what I mean, and I have been dragging this aspect from U5.

Not seeing anything like that.  This is today over central Illinois at 9,000 ft between layers.  4K with clouds set to Ultra.  3070 TI.  Hope you figure it out.

Purported to be is a major weather update, and hopefully clouds. My guess is it's going to be dependent on the DX-12 implementation which I understand is coming soonish.  My sense is what we have now in the way of weather and clouds is a placeholder for what is to come, albeit a very decent placeholder 😀

Ultra is a quantum leap in cloud quality over High, but requires a fairly large FPS hit for slower/older hardware

Definitely some over-sharpening going on there.  You can see it on the aircraft as well.  It will definitely cause this issue, or as a minimum make it a lot worse.  It affects the trees also which seem to sparkle with too much sharpening.

I would turn of sharpening in the user config file and make sure sharpening is also off in any driver related software.  At higher resolutions, it just doesn't need sharpening.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

I think that after su 5 update clouds have loosen its volumes too. Sky and clouds colors also are not same before su 5, they are like compressed images. You will remember how were fs9 and fsx skies and clouds, they have strange purple color bands etc. Lower bits color profiles or compressed images. But it is obvious that after su5 update, clouds and skies degraded significantly.

Ah I see an issue here because these clouds look very similar to those in my set up and I genuinely dont think they look realistic - so guess its all in the eye of the beholder !

IMHO it's the zoom. Don't zoom so much.

Screenshots for evaluation purpose should be always taken at 100% zoom.

I've exactly the same issues! Look to my screenshot. I don't see this with other people. I don't know how to fix this...

I just played with the clouds so I can show you better.
