2)Everyone want to do the mac loop and then spray red/blue/white around. OK! but after that how does this aircraft fit?

A good question. I am not in hurry to buy the Hawk because my plate is full at the moment with the Porter but I gladly noted that she has a decent radio nav equipment on top of the GPS that makes her an interesting cruiser,  for short distance at least for she is  guzzler. I like the Gina but  the retro nav system is a pain in the behind as realistic as it could be.

BTW you don’t fly the Corsair anymore 😉 ?

@Nyxx I'm really enjoying the hawk. Usually not a fan of military jets in msfs, since I find that there are other platforms better suited for that, like DCS.

The pitch sensitivity is a problem, but can be solved with curves in MSFS.

I found that flying approaches with the hawk is actually pretty fun, it's fast enough to practice the same approach a couple of times. And landings can be tricky with the hawk as well.

It likes to drink a lot of fuel, so that adds to the planning experience.

As long as it can be curves out, that would be OK. Thanks for your feedback

Hey Dominque,

Not much, as for me the MKI Spit has made the MKIX and the FG not the goto WW2 aircraft. This is also why within MSFS am not buying every aircraft out there like I did with FSX and P3D. This is why am holding back on the Hawk a bit. All the review are great and like I said it looks a gem, but the pitch is puting me off as the fact I dont want to buy a "aircraft of the moment" like I did all the time pre MSFS. I dont buying the FI latest for that very reason. Might wait another week and see. Having not bought it yet has nothing to with if I will buy it within the next 2 weeks. Like all aircraft I am taking a deep breath before I buy, unless it ticks all the box's out the gate. The Hawk have ticket 7/10 as of today.

With the latest news, justFlight announced the release of the first patch under development, aiming for a release next week. This first update V0.1.0 will fix some of the bugs that have been reported since the release, including the VR. 🙂

What, Lindbergh flew a Hawk?!😲

Fulcrum One Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA sidestick & throttle, Logitech Pro pedals, Xbox wireless gamepad (1st gen)

I must admit, with pitch changes, it does seem to 'dolphin' slightly (or 'porpoise' if you prefer), which I find slightly annoying, but it doesn't detract from the overall experience too much.

Maybe it feels more like 'rubber-banding' actually, as it seems to settle back to a position less than you would expect, almost like there is not just resistance to pitch change, but it actively pitches back slightly when you release the control input, so you aren't always where you wanted to be in pitch and you have to then give it a bit more.  Other aircraft in the sim can display this tendency, in fact, they all do to some degree, but it seems stronger in the Hawk.  I think the G-91 can do this as well so maybe it is just a fast jet thing.

I don't know if this behaviour is realistic as I am not a pilot so I have never flown the Hawk.  I did lick one once at an air show, but that is a different story!

As noted above, there is a flight dynamics mod on flightsim.to that is supposed to correct this behaviour.  It seems a bit 'generic' as it applies to the T-45 as well, so I don't really want to install it myself.

Certainly a nice set of patch changes.  JF really are good at listening and fast at repairing things.  An excellent company without a doubt.

I really like the ones in green highlighted below.  Plus I never knew you could 'fire' the sidewinders - RTFM I guess!

v0.1.1 (pending release)

  • Frequency preset cards go white if lock control mode is used - fixed
  • Red Arrows 2021 livery minor alignment issues - fixed
  • MASS clickspot logic improved
  • Co-pilot camera view tweaked for VR users
  • Outer sidewinders now fire before inner sidewinders if both are fitted ???
  • EFB tablet can now be toggled between two positions for better usability in VR - ejection seat (as before) or above the right console - using a clickspot on the outer edge (bezel) of the EFB tablet.
  • EFB tablet will now move between the front and rear cockpits automatically when the corresponding cockpit is selected from the camera menu
  • 'TOGGLE ENGINE 1/2/3 ANTI ICE' and 'SET ENGINE 1/2/3 ANTI ICE' control assignments can now be used to toggle the Red Arrows smoke colours
  • Front or rear seat pilot is now visible whilst in the cockpit view (pilot being shown is toggled automatically based on whether the front or rear seat camera is selected)
  • EFB control (front/rear) button will now switch you automatically between the front and rear cockpit camera views (can also be selected using the 'TOGGLE ENGINE 4 ANTI ICE' and 'SET ENGINE 4 ANTI ICE' control assignments)
  • 'TOGGLE ENGINE 1 FUEL VALVE' and 'SET ENGINE 1 FUEL VALVE' control assignments can now be used to control the throttle idle stop lever position
  • ILS frequency selector clickspot highlights fixed (now only the selector wheel is highlighted)
  • New cockpit showcase camera presets added (front pilot looking aft, over front pilot shoulder, over front pilot ejection seat, over left and right wings)
  • Cockpit lighting brightness reduced for night flying operations
  • EFB rear pilot option is now automatically enabled or disabled if changes are made to the co-pilot weight value in the MSFS fuel/payload menu
  • OAT is now shown on the top bar of the EFB (Fahrenheit or Celsius depending on selected MSFS unit of measure)
  • 100 Imp Gal (454 L) drop tank option added for longer range flights. Note that in real-life these were fitted to export variants and not the RAF Hawk T1/A. The drop tank fuel feeds automatically through the wing tanks and to the engine. Make sure to check the total weight on the EFB as it's easy to exceed the take-off and landing weight limits with two drop tanks and full fuel!
  • Pilot head movement is now affected by rudder/steering position on the ground
  • EFB VR clickspot fixed
  • Pilot name decal texture added, allowing you to have your own name showing on the Red Arrows 2021 custom livery (PSD template included in Documents folder)
  • Red Arrow flight suits are now red
  • Crew steps are now automatically removed at engine start (if not already removed manually)
  • UHF checklist item fixed
  • If selected down in the cockpit, gear will now automatically extend again if slew is used (which forces the gear up)
  • EFB instrument view zoom level fixed
  • Autopilot approach hold fixed
  • Wingtip vortices effects added (thanks to FLAMIN FENIX)

Yes.  I saw you did your own version with the red suits on flightsim.to and reported it to JF.  Thanks for getting involved!

I must say that watching that video made me feel air sick as the pilot threw it around. I was semi expecting this due to my aversion of the big dipper et al at the funfairs and it has confirmed my decision NOT to invest in VR as I think I might need a rather large bucket handy in the cockpit should I ever try one out. Looks like a great aircraft apart from that!

Yup, looks like they downloaded that one and have included it in the 1.1 update that is incoming as it is identical to the nearest pixel. 🙂 Not that I care as I edited their original file in the first place.

Wow!  We are all here to improve the sim and addons as we go, so I like your spirit on that, but I think they should still have credited you at least.  In any case, thanks for doing it, and for all the other repaints - they look great!

As recommended by JF, 0 across the board on all axis.
