I would prefer patch cycles to be much further apart.  How many people in this thread have actually contributed to MSFS by creating an addon?  I've done several liveries and frankly, almost every other SU they are broken.  Literally for a while there, the dollar sign had to be removed or added in a cfg.  I'm not sure if Asobo introduced old code or what but it gets annoying.

I can't imagine what serious devs have to go through.

Maybe every 6 months do a large, well tested update or something.

I agree on this. I also have some contacts to well known developers who are clearly heavy affected. After every single release the products need massive rework....and this is all BEFORE they are released.

At the moment the SU7 has affected the SDK so much, that some devs complain about 5 to 7 times longer developing times (waiting, restarting etc.) due some issues. Also some SDK parts are completely broken....so they stand completely still! And ASOBO has confirmed some of this issues and some are still under investigation.

The devs do not know if and when this will be fixed.

Imagine working on a 2 or 3 year complex product (like PMDG for instance) and Everytime this back and forward process.....

Not good at all ..not motivating at all

I think you're right.

Many things have change in this update and we have no explanation or justification from Asobo. For instance, I can't switch views from the numeric pad, instead now the keys change the rudder! I have pedals, so I don't need the rudder in my numeric pad, but it is very convenient to have access to the views from the keyboard. I deleted the new settings in the numeric pad from Asobo, but now I don't know how configure my views as before!

I wish there is an option in the menu to return to the personal settings in aspects like this.

Regards.

I had played around with my graphic settings for hours looking at FPS when I changed something from high to Ultra for instance. Many of the settings which were perfect for me, were returned to what I had started off with months ago. PO'd is an understatement.

We will have to wait for a roadmap in the new year, but I was definitely getting the impression that the plan is to slow down, starting with the imminent focus on bug fixing for the next update, rather than new features.

I will believe that when I see it.

Hey Carl

Talking core (meaning not sceneries or aircraft),  I am obviously not against active development when there is some clear value added for the user and that the updates are reasonably spaced to allow simmers to play with the sim.  I love changes (I have lived in 8 countries in my life  and played about a score of flight simulators 😉) when they are meaningful.

As I said earlier, when did the cottage industry really skyrocketed to new levels of quality and made  the hobby what it is now. During the FSX stasis. Interesting, no ? Not looking for a new freeze of course but to a more reasonable and thought out pace.

I said already what I thought about QC. It is not a flaw in the MSFS set up , it is a voluntary direct consequence of the marketing policy.

What i think we somtimes lose sight of is some of the changes are needed for the likes of 3rd Party devs, and the issues they need resolved to take the sim forward. But that doesn't excuse pretty basic faults like Track IR getting through. Or maybe they did know, and hence the no community input this time? I guess time will tell.

You also have the choice of learning to read posts in the conversational proper context, see this is a premise bobcat and OP started, who also hurried to like your comment because he has a thing against me 🙂

I did like Nemo's post as I thought it was addressing the point of discussion in a way that I agreed with, obviously.  I may yet upvote it!  😝

As for having a thing against you, I don't even know you, and I can assure you I absolutely do not - genuinely - time is too short for such nonsense in my view.

It is just that some of your more recent posts come across as as a bit personal, dismissive, and argumentative with the people who have an issue, rather than trying to find a way of adding anything constructive.  Then the follow-on comments start 'mirroring' the tone and the thread goes off track - like this - totally pointless.
Maybe you are just being direct or sarcastic and I misread it.

So if you think I have a thing against you, I apologise for making you feel that way.  Rebooting...

I'm EXTREMELY tired of this. Every stupid update they go around changing physical controls, cameras, options I had set at one thing are suddenly something else.  Like WHY are all the stupid HUD enabled again?

STOP TOUCHING THINGS ASOBO. Every dumb major update is like I have to learn how to fly the sim all over again..

What is even worse, I checked the Official FS forum this morning to see what was being said about the Track IR issue, where there were many posts on this topic yesterday. Guess what, the thread has disappeared. That is Asobos way, place complaints on ignore.

My conjecture is that the lack of QC is not a problem, it is a policy. Neuman and Asobo have sold to MS corporate an insane planning to keep the product in the news that contractually ties them up now. QC would hinder the whole thing.

That‘s a plausible explanation for the poor QC (or lack thereof), but it’s still a problem - maybe not for the suits at MS, but for us.

Was that thread moved? I see a big thread here for Track IR and it's still there: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/track-ir-stops-working/472119

I'm not technically minded at all when it comes to development, etc. But wouldn't the fact that this is such a multi player sim mean that everyone would need to be using the same version for it to function properly? Or am I way off the mark?

Yes you are right, they moved the thread. 296 Votes now to fix it. I just discovered another Track IR problem this morning. When you press the F9 key to freeze the image, it turns track IR off.

Whether you are on multiplayer or not, you're still being connected to multiple data streaming sources that all expect you to be using the same version of the software.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Depends how you code it. If code backward compatible it’s not

For reasons we might or might not agree (with if we knew them) they went another way.

Honestly the subject leaves me a bit pensive. We here could second guess them, probably with little actual supporting data on our side, but I'm not sure how that helps anything, except as a way to pass the time. 🤷‍♂️
