Does update 7 wipe out hardware control profiles?

Haven't started the update yet so I thought I would ask.  If so, anyone know off-hand where custom profiles are kept?  Figure it better to make a backup.  Thx.

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

Not in my case.- No changes at my controls profiles

In a standard install of the MS store version of MSFS the controller profiles are in the wgs folder located at:

C:\Users\your_name\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs

Didn't affect my custom profiles.

Kind regards,

Tim

I still have my custom profiles BUT one command (reverse thrust toggle for the Milviz PC-6) is not working in SU7.

The profiles are just text files, although they do not end in .txt, can edit in notepad. The numbers in the path are random and are different for different people.

None of my profiles were changed. But several settings in Options were changed. But none of the profiles.

In my case the update itself didn't wipe any profile of any controller hooked up but after a few problemfree runs (besides TrackIR hassle) on the next startup of a flight i suddenly had no hotas controllers anymore.
Opening up controls revealed that my Warthog Hotas profile was completely empty, all the rest was still there (rudder, mouse, keyboard etc....).

only SU6 lost my profiles, no problem with SU7 or the earlier updates

All my throttle settings are gone on my Thrustmaster TCA Airbus.  Probably some other settings are messed up.

WOW! We may have to start backing up our profiles!

They are saved in the cloud, but after reading the above it looks like the cloud may be suddenly holding empty profiles for some people.

It did in my case, had to redo all control settings.

They are actually saved here (Win Store version):
"C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs

I just had another empty Thrustmaster profile to deal with but this time the backup of the wgs folder i made saved me quite a bit of work.

It might also be possible that messing with TrackIR settings could end you up with an empty controller setup. Not sure yet...

I've had corrupt profiles a couple of times since release, and it's a PITA, not fun at all.

Yes they are saved on the computer. But they are also saved in the cloud. I know because a few months ago I lost everything on my one and only hard drive. C:/ drive was now blank. When I reinstalled windows and MSFS, all my many profiles came back. The cloud had saved them all.

I realize your hardisk deleted some of your profiles. But the way it is supposed to work is that any profile you delete inside MSFS profile manager, will be removed from the game but NOT from the hardrive. If I open profiles at random from C:\Steam\userdata\94959374\125041\remote folder, I see profiles that I deleted from the profile manager in MSFS over a year ago. They and are no longer listed in MSFS Options/Controls. But they are still there on my hardrive where MSFS originally put them. Even after I lost everything on that drive, the cloud put them all back onto my drive when I reinstalled MSFS.

I don't know about corrupting profiles, but I am having an issue with being able to taxi after landing. My plane is uncontrollable and I have to exit the flight. Have to get this sorted out pronto.
