Live Weather Updated Today?

I've just fired up MSFS and there's no update for me, unless it's so small they don't even show it, but everything could be server side anyhow. MS store version.

Honestly, it was 5K on my end. You wouldn't notice it. I almost didn't. But it still could all be server-side changes; that Steam update might be a coincidence, or maybe it did update a little bit of data connected to server updates... Who knows.

I flew into reno last night with 10sm but it looked more like 3sm.

I thought they mentioned in the last dev video that there is quite a lot of things they can adjust behind the scenes.

Yes, you're right. I'd forgotten that.

I have MSFS through the Microsoft Store, and while I did not get an update there or in the sim itself (that I noticed), the weather seems much improved vs. yesterday. Did test flights to TIST and KMSY and it's looking good to my eyes.

I would hugely appreciate if anyone, preferably multiple people, could reply to this post in regards to the abrupt weather transitions.

I haven't started the sim so 'no comment' in regards to any potential update or background update.

But would love to know if anything has improved or if the abrupt changes still exist.

No update on Steam for me. Can't test the weather now but will do it later.

Server side changes could well be a factor and perhaps have an effect on Live Weather, the fact a tiny Steam update occurred is purely coincidental I think.

I think you might be right.

Either way, I have just done another test flight on my lunch break, several hours later: I still have live weather, and I'm still not seeing any transitions in weather from ground, to sky, to destination. It's looking better than it has for a long time on my end, so I hope others have the same experience.

If I do a test flight at 11pm tonight and have no live weather again, I will take it that that is the time are they are turning off servers to work on server-side fixes.

But it does look like we have one important fix: the abrupt transitions in weather. Hopefully. Everything crossed.

Again, not at all. My experience with weather today is not imagined. I definitely have live weather right now, which I haven't for days, I'm definitely not seeing abrupt weather transitions any more, and the entire world isn't huddled beneath a duvet of fog/haze. Those are the main differences I'm observing, so something has changed.

Sad I cannot report the same.  Using my home airport of KBNA, real and in-sim METAR reports clear skies.  Spawning into KBNA using 'Real Weather' and it's the same soupy fog.  Change it to 'Clear Skies' preset and the soup disappears.

I just tested several airports including my home airports (KDFW, KDAL, KADS, and KTKI) where super clear weather predominates, and I feel like I'm in New Delhi in the simulator.  Super hazy and foggy.....unrealistic, and so the verdict on my end is that there has been no update or change to weather since SU7 release.

Sincerely,

Dennis D. Müllert

A shame. Watch this space, I guess. If they have done fixes, though, they might be (more) effective in certain locations, not others -- at the moment, at least.
