Should we install Win 11 now P3dv5.3 is out?

Featured Replies

I have been running 11 since months and it is working great with all my simulators, including P3D 5.3.

On some newer computers, like mine,  you will need to enable the TPM in the Bios first. It was off by default.

I think that was it! I need to figure out how to do that.

I don't have any choice...W11 will not install on my rig...I don't have that chip...so did I dodge a bullet for now?

I actually had the same problem. You can turn it on in your bios.....TPM or PTT....mine was PTT

Motherboards after 2018 have a setting in the bios to enable the feature...

Secure Boot

Windows 11 requires Secure Boot to be switched on (Enabled)

TPM (Trusted Platform Module)

Must be enabled in the bios

My steps done maybe helpful for some:

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master (rev. 1.0)
BIOS Version: F10

STEPS:
1. F2 (Advanced Mode).
2. Boot
3. CSM Support: Disabled.
4. Secure Boot.
5. Restore Factory Keys: Yes.
6. F10 (Save)/ Restart PC

7. Boot.
8. Secure Boot.
9. Secure Boot Enable: Enabled.
10. F10 (Save)/ Restart PC

11. Settings.
12. Miscellaneous.
13. Intel Platform Trust Technology (PTT): Enabled.
14. F10 (Save)/ Restart PC.

CHECK TPM STATUS (IN WINDOWS):
Start/ Run
Type: tpm.msc
It should say: “Specification Version: 2.0”

Thanks for this information

i have also been running W11 for months , and if i remember to continually run Windows updates atleast twice a day when using the PC , i find i have way less CTD's than W10 , it could be luck or placebo but iam very happy with it . iam now on V5.3 with FSL great 😁

windows 11 will install on any machine if you install from scratch, tpm is only required through windows update, and you just need to turn tpm on with boards 2018 and newer, you don't actually have to buy a physical chip for it to work. at least on intel boards.

Which TE are your referring to? for TE-NL I have some tips that saves huge amount of VRAM 🙂

I had the GB TE volumes installed but I think there was some corruption in the central volume as I would fly over a block of scenery that looked like European LC not TE and either the sim would crash or the whole PC would close down reboot.

I’m running a 3090 so not short on VRAM as i understand it but any tips you may have gratefully received 👍

Well, I just migrated fully to Win 11 and so far very well impressed !

It was a two stage migration. Started by a dual boot, maintaining my Win 10 partition, but after less than an hour experimentiing with Win 11 I decided to erase ALL partitions, on both NVME 2 SSDs, and install Win 11 fresh from and USB stick.

The nly simulator I have installed so far is MFS, which I pushed again from the cloud this morning. Wow it runs in DX12 beta mode far better than ever in Win 10 ! I did have to roll back the latest Nvidia drivers because I was getting constant CTDs. That could well be the reason for the errors I got in P3D after upgrading to 5.3.

Next step will be a P3d install.

I've been on windows 11 for a month or so.  All good.  I performed the quick registry mod to bring my right click context menu's back to WIN10 type.  Other than that, been happy with it.

Stardock's Start11 + WinaeroTweaker to tweak a few things, including bringing back the old context menu. Turned it into a Windows 10 experience, essentially. Though Start11 allowed me for more comprehensive version of the Windows 10 menu I used to have, so might even be a tad better.

Though as default, they added some mind-boggling things and the start menu is borderline useless.

My Win 10 is running fine, was just wondering if installing Win 11 would be beneficial for P3dv5.3

Of course!. New versions are always better. I'm using Win 11 from day 1, and since a few days P3Dv5.3. Works like a charm.
