Hello @Watsi, thanks for supporting us!

I have dleted all files in the suggested folders, also all FDR files in the work folder.

But still endless loading

Thanks. Yeah just trying things out to see what the problem is. FDR files are flight data recordings we would need for bug finding (you can keep them, if you want).

glad this 1.21.18.0 is only an optional update, and no one gets forced to use that Nvidia driver either. probably better then to stay on SU7 Version 1.21.17.0 for the time being since they said nothing else got changed/added, and I didn't know anything about those Nvidia CTDs until this message anyway. 😊

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

Same here.

Just downloaded the latest update and then installed the latest 497.09 nVidia driver.

It seems to make almost 10FPS positive difference to me. Where I might have had 35-40FPS on the ground it's now 45-50FPS on the ground. In the air it's often over 60FPS now even in thick cloud.

I can confirm no clouds are visible on the World Map as stated above. I am in UK.

Generally I think it's doing OK with METAR depiction. Still feel the low OVC clouds and visibility layers are being incorrectly conflated. For example OVC 004 and Visibility 6SM currently give a fog layer at 004 with a visibility of approx. 6SM. We really need a full OVC stratus (nimbo-status) cloud layer down to 004 and 6SM air visibility below that. However at LIRU this morning with a MEATAR of CAVOK it did depict 2 layers of cloud. On the satellite it showed clouds streaming in from the southwest towards Rome, and CAVOK conditions - >10SM visibility, no wind, no clouds roughly below 4-5000, no CB etc. So I thought that was doing well. In the past CAVOK is often depicted in the sim as clear skies, which it may not necessarily be.

Aloft (FL180 in may case) upper winds and temps did not closely match the European AVWX chart predictions, but that may be a time thing as the charts are not live.

Generally lacking convincing stratus clouds throughout the air column overall. But otherwise I am not at all displeased with this update.

It's not an optional update, it's a beta.

The whole point of a beta is that it's a test release and the only reason for releasing it is to find bugs.

A beta has bugs - well they all do.  That's why they're betas and not production updates

ok, lets call it an optional update to a beta version then, shall we? and while I have been enjoying beta testing for nearly 2 years now, I still enjoy a pleasant CTD free flight every now and then. If we had an easy way to switch between beta and regular versions I and many others would appreciate it. we beta testers deserve uneventful flights once in a while too 😊

"A beta has bugs - well they all do.  That's why they're betas and not production updates"

sure about that? 😊

It's mandatory for the beta, it starts automatically and downloads about 32 MB.

7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber

ah ok, was not aware of it, thought we would have the option to actively join or not to join via the xbox app, as was the case before. since they said:

If the update does not automatically trigger:

For PC players:

  • Please restart your PC
  • If that doesn’t work, try signing out and then back in to the Xbox app

edit: nope, 1.21.18.0 IS optional: I just pulled my pc out of the hangar, parking brake set, and left the beta via the xbox insider hub before starting MSFS, started MSFS and after doing its regular update check, it did NOT download anything, and it is showing I am still flying SU7 version 1.21.17.0.

once we know more about 1.21.18.0 I may join the beta again via insider hub and update accordingly.

Optional?. I'll be mandatory after its official release. Just now it's optional, as it's a beta.

Lol, you guys are funnier than old reruns of In Living Color.

It's a beta. It's buggy. This is why it's called a beta. It is (maybe) neither stable, final, or better. This is why it's called a beta.

Mods, this is brilliant and should be pinned!

my point was: yes we beta testers have a rough idea what beta means and appreciate your friendly reminders. but contrary to messages above, you can stay on beta 1.21.17 if you don't want to risk even more issues by being forced into 1.21.18, you just have to pull out just before 😊, remember to leave the beta using xbox insider app and decide after checking forums.flightsimulator.com before committing to a whole new Pandora box, as there is no easy way of switching back from beta status to regular without re-installing the whole 100 GB sim from scratch. with x-plane it was simple, I could run several versions including betas side by side on the same pc and same partition. being stuck with a beta thats not running anymore and no 2nd regular stable backup version to use in the meantime I don't consider an incentive.

FBW not loading for me also. That's with an older NVidia driver and not the latest one.
