Anything New To See?

Featured Replies

After six months absence, thought I would fire up MSFS again - ha! Microsoft Download Simulator with a 110Gb "mandatory" update before I can even get in the menu. Nothing changed there.

Looking round the boards etc. seems still no closer to getting any classic jetliners in there, DC10, 727, Tristar etc.

Was also wondering if Asobo has ever fixed the save/reload flight bugs which pretty much killed any attempt at long haul, such as the FMC losing your flight plan.

Bottom line is it really worth bothering to update or have things not moved forward that much since I was last here?

And what keeps you from browsing through this forum and reading the threads? Should give you a pretty good idea 😉

A lot of people want Asobo/MS to stop moving forward for debugging instead. If they cling to this, you can expect a - perhaps - less buggy program with even less new features in the future.

Kind regards, Michael

I mean, people are currently testing a beta build, and this guy is asking whether there is "anything new to see".🙄 Avsim delivers again.

Naaa... Same old same old.

Some of us enjoying what Asobo/MS have done so far.

And like Michael said... the stompy feet crowd is still stomping and screaming at the sky telling them to stop moving forward.

I mean, that couldn’t be further from the truth if you tried. In fact I would go as far as saying, you’re lying with that statement.

It is an observation. It cannot be a lie. That's how it looks to me. You can disagree without resorting to personal attacks.

“The stompy feet crowd is still stomping” is not an observation, it’s a statement.
For starters, ‘the stompy feet crowd’ doesn’t exist…

I didn’t personally attack you, I just observed what you had written was lying about a made up group of people.

Isn't asking for bug fixes and stabilising the sim a means of moving forward then?  That is what I look for.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Yes. It is s statement describing an observation.

I did not mention your name, single you out, or make any other comment that should offend you, or anyone else. Unless, of course, you feel that you are just stomping your feet yelling at Asobo to stop moving forward, in which case you should be offended, and will hopefully accept my apology. I'm sorry that you are offended, not that I accurately described my observation....

Please stop this Kindergarten BS. I mean....is it really grown up people talking about their favorite hobby here?

Don't bother , this is a language issue. In the liturgical language used by the faithfuls  'moving forward'  translates in good English by 'running in circles'. Mostly unnecessary SU releases which call  for necessary fixes.

Well of course it is, but if Asobo and MS abide by the wishes of some around here, the updates will stop so how would we get those fixes?

We all want a great sim. We finally got the new engine that we wanted and it is stunning. Asobo and MS got the base out to a large audience and running on multiple platforms. For the most part, there are plenty of great things that DO work well enough to entertain most of us. Is is a drop in replacement for what I had in P3D? No. Will it get there eventually? Yes.

There's an old adage that says, "You get more bees with honey, than you do with vinegar.". Developers are people. They have emotional reactions to things that they read, just as some apparently did to my previous comment. If we yell, scream, and treat them with overall disrespect, then they will be LESS likely to consider what is said and LESS likely to make it a priority. As a matter of fact, they might even decide to lower the priority of the items the people being the most disrespectful are concerned about.

There is a proper way to interact with people. A little decorum and common courtesy is all I ask.

MDFlier,I never once said I was offended. You’ve got 3/4 assumptions alone in your responses to me. So, there is no need to apologise to me.

Anyways, by your reasoning, we should all just stop complaining, (or apparently stomping our feet), and shut up and put up. 💁‍♂️ And take what we are given. I mean, it’s not like we paid over £€$100 for this software, is it? What gives us the right to criticise? It’s a beautiful sim, sure, my car is also beautiful, but if the garage place rubbish tyres on it, then it doesn’t function as intended. It still looks beautiful though, so, does that mean I shouldn’t say anything just wait until the next time I am back at the garage?

Oh and they DEFINITLEY don’t prioritise items that people are ‘screaming’ about. Want proof? Pop on over to the official forums, check out the (flawed) voting system, and look for yourself.
Here’s a clue, AI traffic. Amongst others.

No. My reasoning is if there is something that you don't like in the sim, let Asobo and MS know about it with a civilized description of the problem and move on. We paid $ for Asobo's product. It will be what they want it to be. We can all want it to be something else, but in the end, we will get what Asobo wants to put together. "Function as intended" as defined by who? If it works the way Asobo wants it to, then it clearly functions "as intended". You may have a different definition of "intended", but the actual intention comes from those who write the code.
