Too busy flying the excellent and free FBW A320neo. Legacy planes aren't really my bag.

Has the Sim moved forward? That's a very debatable subject, regardless since day one fun and interesting flights from cold to shutdown are possible and I've had many.

Unfortunately there's still a long way to go before this sim is anywhere near stable and free from schoolboy bug inclusions & regressions (bugs will always happen but Asobo have a knack of creating them from nothing...), so it's up to you to have a look or not to bother.

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

Bottom line is it really worth bothering to update or have things not moved forward that much since I was last here?

They've added and changed absolutely tonnes of stuff. The issue is with threads like this is the priority is different for everyone! What one person may consider massive progress may not mean anything to another person.

Don't bother , this is a language issue. In the liturgical language used by the faithfuls  'moving forward'  translates in good English by 'running in circles'. Mostly unnecessary SU releases which calls for necessary fixes.

You are right.  It is pointless engaging with the 'defenders of the faith' who just want to shut down any negative talk or criticism of the sim.
If I have a part of the sim that is broken, I want to come here and discuss it with fellow simmers.  There is nothing wrong with that.
I don't see any of this aggression aimed at Asobo here, and talked about in such dramatic terms, only justifiable frustration, and a bit of humoristic sarcasm, so maybe it is a perception thing.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Not really, when you compare the mess that was the beta or even just after release to today, the sim improved quite a lot

The issue is not that they are adding new stuff, but the fact that those improvements are not tested enough, also they should really focus on all the parts that third party vendor will be using on their products even if it takes 2-3 sim dedicated updates to do so.

I don't think anything is more frustrating for them than to realise the updates broke their code and they need to constantly change it.

OK then, for the OP and maybe the more positive people here, please make a list of significant improvements to the core sim since launch (not extra content).  I will start with a few: -

1.  The particle effects system.  Not what I would call the best looking one, but a start.
2.  Performance improvements that came without any visual degradation (except a little bit here and there ).  Performance is quite good now actually.

Talking World Updates I agree but considering  Sim Updates saying that they added tons of stuff seems a bit hyperbolic to me. There was no massive progress and even regressions (re effect of the updraft/downdraft in mountainous regions for instance.)

Well, I have the DC-6 to prep on Jammu airport for a flight to Leh. There is something to say for legacy aircraft 😄 !

Simming since 1981 -  [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam

Some folks seem "confuzzled", probably still flying P3D, thinking they're flying MSFS 2020.

Absolutely, it's out of question for me.

Has the sim moved forward...yes.

No it hasn't!

Yes it has.

No it hasn't...stomps feet.

The Fenix A320 will be the best ever in any sim, on any planet, in any universe - better than the real airplane!

You mean the one that hasn't been released?

Yeah, that one.

please don't forget our friends from WorkingTitle and how they turned an average stock CJ4 and G1000 into the best of any fs game, or did they convert it even into simulator? who knows 😊

once they do the same and release their version of the B 787/747, I might not even miss a PMDG 737. will be interesting to see who releases first next year? MS/Asobo MSFS version 2.0 with helicopters and WorkingTitle enhanced cockpits or PMDG?

Wow, so far as the first few responses are concerned kind of wished I hadn't asked, no need for people to be so toxic in what was essentially a sincere innocent question. All very well saying look through the forum but tl:dr comes to mind, as opposed to asking for a short honest assessment of where things are.

Well anyway it looks as though insufficient has changed to justify continuing the 110Gb download, would have liked an answer on whether the save/load bugs are still present though.

Maybe I'd have more luck posing the question over at Flightsim dot com.
