737 PMDG or IFly?

If you still get the chance I'd certainly be interested in the answer, although I just looked at a bunch of real world pictures, the iFly and the NGXu and the NGXu indeed seems too dark, even with adjustments. Guess I'll have to find a way to lighten it up further somehow. Maybe adjusting the VC texture files works.

It looks good on my TV as well as in my VR headset, although still too dark as it seems. I knew it's a bit too dark with EA and HDR on, but even without EA and HDR it appears too dark.

Well I know how it looks in real life and the PMDG shots are far to dark and the Ifly a bit to light compared to RW, but then again it depends on the time of day WX conditions etc...

It's not static and if it works for you that is the most important one 😉

I am still more than happy with the original NGX in P3Dv4.5.

But that's not it, the iFly definitely seems too bright and whiteish to me. The color appears to be lacking the anthracite-like grey, especially in darker scenarios, that you would find on a real NG and it seems there is too much light in the cockpit. It often looks too bright and the grey too light to me.

See my post here...

Note the slider settings I posted. I find default P3D way over saturated in colors and bright. But also some settings do make a difference. See these 3 pictures... The last one I believe is all defaults, with EA and HDR turned off...

The last picture has everything over-saturated and bright (settings were default and/or off). With P3Dv5, when the colors are not right, it can even look cartoonish. However, adjusted with HDR and slider settings, it can be near spot on to the real world, including the sky.

Thanks,

That's what I thought. From my last peek into the 737 flight deck (we get mostly Airbus around here) I believe it's somewhere in between.

Lighting is indeed a bit of a pain in P3D. EA, HDR and both off all look so different it's hard to find the right spot. Lighting bugs don't make it any easier.

I did some work on the VC textures of the NGXu to lighten it up to overcome that lighting bug for the moment. If anyone's interested. Still WIP.

Good job!
PMDG should buy it from you.
If they cared.

Looks good threegreen, I'm interested!

Just bought the 737 ngxu a couple of weeks ago and still busy with tutorial 1 fom ngx (egkk eham). I must admit that the default cockpit looks a bit dark to me. I was used to the a320 which is brighter in appearance.

Cheers

Thanks....Happy New Year to all my fellow simmers. Happy to get this year in the record books!

I'm doing some final touches....the extra emergency door is causing some minor issues that I'm working through right now...technically, the model has the windows cut, and we blank them as needed with the alpha channel.  Unfortunately...when you have to move the position of the windows, blanking the alpha does nothing to the physical position of the frame, so I had to "paint" the window in to cover the part of the frame peaking out.

In most lighting conditions, it looks ok...in total shade its a bit darker than the other windows but passible.  Just a few more tweaks then I'm uploading her to the flight1 library.

She's in the Flight1 library, here: http://library.flight1.net/

Last paint of 2021!

(I added the little glow in the dark sticker on the bottom of the winglet....thought it looked cool in some of the research pics I looked at. 🙂 )
