Rare night flight

Featured Replies

Rare for me as I hardly fly these days with all the paint projects recently.🤔

Anyway....most of my flying is paint inspection flights where I take my latest paint on a short hop and along the way, pan around her to check for issues.  Since these flights are done almost exclusively in the day, a night flight is a welcomed treat (thank goodness we don't have to paint night textures anymore).
When the flight ended (at an airport that should be easy to guess after the last 2 shots), I was panning around the plane and struck with how great night textures look compared to the "old days" 🤣

Love the reflections on the fuse, you see I have the wheel well light, the cockpit overhead, the cabin, and wing inspection lights all on (and the logo light of course).  And look at the reflection of the gate lights on the tip of the nose!  So adds to the immersion. 🙂

The beautiful moon glow reflection on the fuse by the L1 door and on the blue edge of the engine, and the hint of the wing inspection light on the very polished engine leading edge. 🙂

The logo light looks great (maybe a bit bright, but nice)...the astute will probably know the airport by this pic.

Any doubt where my flight ended after viewing the shot below? Hehe

I always used to just hit "day." But, dusk has provided some amazing flights lately as it deepens to night. Yes, the iFly 737 looks fantastic at night and there's something magical in both real flying an sims to look down at city lights and roads and do a night approach. The night lighting is as good as I've seen.

Looks great! I downloaded the United livery yesterday.  Too bad the airport doesn't look 1/10 as good as the plane.  Is that FSDT KLAX?

Default KLAX.  I have the FSDT version...but have not reinstalled much scenery to P3D since I reinstalled it.

Um, why did I not know about LAX in v5.2? SimMarket needs to fix their search engine. Don't tell me there's an LIFR, too?

Tasty pics, #1 though!

@Steve Dra The tail logo light will be brighter if it has a LED lamp in it. Most new aircraft come that way now from factory and many exsisting

are being replaced/upgraded to LED. These LED have a kelvin 3000-4000 and a cri of avg 82. More vivid color and brighter too compared to

the incandescent/halogen lamps. They are warm yellowish color. If you go into a retail clothing store, ie Nordstrom for example, they use LED

lamps, high kelvin and a high cri 90+ to get the color on clothing to really pop. Then you get it home and go, gee just doesn't look like it did in

store. High cri LED are quiet expensive too. Oops, I got off rambling...

Before my cataract surgery....I was always seeing warm colors as everything had a yellow tint that I had no idea of because I had cataracts in both eyes.  I only knew when I had the left eye done 1st, and everything out of that eye was now LED temperature and the right eye looked like incandescent, hehe.

So I guess you can say I got an LED upgrade to my eyes.🤣  The right side below is what I was seeing before the surgery...the left after. 🙂

All I know is now at night when SWA 737s fly over my house with their logo light on, I can see the difference between a new aircraft (like a Max), and the older ones.  I live a few miles right under the 13s.  They are a few hundred feet above me when they go overhead.  In addition to the absence of yellow of course, my vision is much more clearer. 🙂

Ah.  That explains it.  Thanks.

It sure is magical! I just did a night approach to my home airport, CYVR, after flying from CYYC. I don't often fly at night, but I'm going to start doing more night flights.

Joel Murray @ CYVR (actually, somewhere about halfway between CYNJ and CZBB)

Hey we could go when the flow is southbound, 12's, and watch. Then pile in some BBQ at Pappa's

and send @skully some Q pics!
