@micstatic, I’ve searched YT for Concorde videos and none are in HD quality.

The best are the ITVV series which had multiple cameras in the flight deck plus excellent commentary from Captain David Roland plus FE Roger Bricknell describing the operation of the FE panel. I believe FSL used this for the tutorial for FSX. They’re very presentable when played on an Oppo 203 UHD player to a Loewe 55” OLED.

Just wait for the black suits and helicopters for creating a sonic boom over our fair lands 🙂   In all seriousness, they did do KJFK-KSEA  at .95 to stay subsonic and were still well over an hour quicker than a typical trans-con... 

What about KLAX-PHNL or the reverse routing?  I was thinking about that one at, 2,221 nautical miles and relatively straight in/straight out in the right conditions.  

That crazy time in modern commercial aviation where the crew left the door open and casually walked around the cabin talking to passengers.

The first rule of Supersonic Club is... no supersonic flight over populated areas. FL350 at Mach 0.95 for those routes young fella!😉

Concorde’s sonic boom spreads around 55nm ahead and 25nm laterally.

KJFK-CYVR was flown in 1999 as leg 1 of the World Tour. Subsonic until close to Hudson’s Bay at which point supersonic flight was approved.

At the other end subsonic well before a normal decel point but in all honesty they did well to get approval from the Canadian authorities for supersonic flight.

I’ve flown KLAX-PHNL several times. Around 2h 30m. 😁 Eat your heart out Boeing. 😉

@Rob_Ainscough, if you fancy KJFK-KMCO here's a plan I formulated some time ago. Hopefully all the wapoints are still active.

KJFK - WIGLS - MANTA - FULTN - FURZE - 30N081W - OMN - LAMMA - JESUP - COZMO - BITHO - KMCO.

From memory you have to be subsonic (Mach 0.95, FL350) at 30N081W. Outbound from JFK you can keep throttles full forward and climb continuously until it's time to slow down and go down around 105nm from 30N081W.

This is flight simulation, Ray. Nobody has to abide by real world supersonic rules

Of course they don’t have to. Each to their own choice. But it does rather kill the realism of operating the aircraft as it would have flown in real-world ops.

Would I fly a 737-800 at 1,000ft from KLAX to KJFK. Why not? It’s just a simulator after all.

This is the sonic boom created by an Air France Concorde above the English Channel near the waypoint TESGO. I would estimate its altitude between FL380 and FL450. So around 8-9 miles up.

Turn up the volume and you’ll appreciate why flying supersonic over populated area was never approved.

I believe there were a few tests in the 60s/70s where some supersonic passes over populated areas were made to establish the feasablility of supersonic flight over land, and the amount of damages claims and noise complaints quickly put an end to any ambitions for overland supersonic flight

You still get the occasional news stories in the UK and other countries when jet fighters break the sound barrier while intercepting another aircraft and break a few windows in the process...

Crazy used in its not quite literal sense. Some would say "sane" rather. And the sad part is, it was only 20 odd years ago

I have seen this tactic used in real life.  Imagine what an F-16 less than 200 ft off the deck going supersonic would do to an intended target.  It can flatten a building and at the least blow every window out and do significant damage.  Want to take down a target without firing a weapon.  Going SuperSonic at a specified point will do it...

it might  take  out  some  windows  but i doubt very much it  will  flatten  any type  of  structure
