Working Title Group?

Featured Replies

I remember this forum being populated with WT news and threads.  I do have some of their mods but flying the FBW product almost exclusively now I have not kept up the WT stuff.  I recall that one of the members directly consults with MS now.  However, I was wondering, have we seen any impact in the base sim from that move?  It just seems like things have gone quite.  Are they working on something big?  Just curious about your thoughts.

Check their Discord channel, it is always busy.

The entire Working Title team was hired by Microsoft/Asobo to work full time on MSFS.  Some of their members stopped posting here, probably because they can't talk as freely as they could before they were hired by Microsoft/Asobo. Matt, the lead of Working Title, still posts here at Avsim though.

The G1000 NXi that you download from the marketplace is done by Working Title.  They have been working hard on the G1000 NXi over the last year and have made tremendous progress on it.  From my understanding, Working Title are also scheduled to work on the other Garmin products in MSFS.  And they are scheduled to work on the systems of a few other planes in MSFS, I think the 787 being one of them.  Check their Discord for the latest information, or just search Matt's posts here at Avsim because I think Matt made a recent post on the stuff they were going to work on.

I haven't seen much if any progress on Avionics progress!

Are you serious?  The G1000 NXi has made huge progress since last year.  I'm referring to the G1000 NXi that you can download from the marketplace, not the default G1000 found in the default planes.

We're not dead!

Right now we're working on the Garmin G1000 NXi, the Proline 21 (and by extension, the CJ4), the Garmin G3000, and the GNS430/530. The latter three are rebuilds from the ground up like the NXi was, not using our existing mod code, so they won't be instantaneous either. There will be other things we will announce later on. 😉

This depends on where you look. Right now we're a team of only 10 folks: our focus has been exclusively on core-sim SDK work (but you have also seen our contributions in other areas, like the sim altimetry, and other bits and bobs) and the GA avionics. The NXi alone has tens of thousands of hours into it, and will be moving from early-access in the Marketplace to the default in the sim. The other projects will be following similar trajectories.

Avionics systems are no small feat to develop: they're entire large software programs of their own with accompanying big codebases and thus are a good deal of effort. As we have mentioned in the past, we and the MSFS team will be upgrading the sim flight planning system in the core as well to include the technology we've built, but not every system will automatically improve due to this: each avionics system has different capabilities and understandings of flight plans and such these things will roll out one by one to the various avionics systems as we touch them. But over the next year and a half you'll see us and the MSFS team bring the same level that we brought to the NXi to other systems as we go.

10 people now? I like what I am reading 🙂

Thank you for all the work you are doing for the sim community.

In yesterday's Q&A https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1434438816 at around 01:06:55 the question about Working Title and future stuff came up, the dev team chimed in with some interesting tidbits.

The grin I had on my face as I read through the op lol. I kept thinking how surprised he'd be when he found out what WT have actually been up to. It was a genius acquisition by MS. The next group i want them to absorb is FBW but it'll probably never happen.

Lol

This post....I don't know, can't really say what I think, would get me banned.

But, guys, listen up, I just discovered this new fangled thingy called "hip hop" - you guys should check it out. Seems like it could get really popular.😉

Hey folks, the jabbing is not necessary. Not everyone has their finger on the pulse of everything going on in the sim world at all times. There are differing levels of simmers and involvement as we very often make clear on our Discord, that's totally OK. If folks missed out on some stuff, let's happily loop them in instead.
