March 25, 20224 yr Just release about an hour ago - available as a 2GB update in Content Manager. From the official forum: We just released an update to WU8 to the Content Manager that removes some duplicated files. Installing the update will free up approximately 5GB of space. There are no changes to the World Update itself.
March 26, 20224 yr 5GB! That’s a lot of duplicate or redundant files. Wonder if that solves the double windsock and other scenery issues some have reported here. March 26, 20224 yr Seems the recent update only removed half of the offending files. More discussion from a different source: World Update 8 Bloatware Regards, Kendall 7800X3D/G.B. Aorus 650 Elite V2.0/32GB GSkill Trident 6000-CL30/Nvidia 1080 Ti./Seasonic Focus 1200W PSU.
March 26, 20224 yr I wonder, why it takes 2.6 GB to free up 5 GB? Instead of deleting the unnecessary stuff, this probably just deletes everything an "reinstalls" the needed stuff again. Took forever on my side with 3.5MB/s max DL speed... Greetings, Chris AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 2x32GB DDR5 6000MT/s RAM, MSI RTX 4090 Ventus 3X, Windows 11 Home, MSFS2024

It doesn't make any sense to me either and, as mentioned before, it seems that another WU8 update will come out sooner than later to completely cure the duplications Edited March 26, 20224 yr by edpatino Cheers, Ed MSFS2020 Steam // Rig: Corsair Graphite 760T Full Tower - ASUS MBoard Maximus XII Hero Z490 - CPU Intel i9-10900K - 64GB RAM - MSI RTX2080 Super 8GB - [1xNVMe M.2 1TB + 1xNVMe M.2 2TB (Samsung)] + [1xSSD 1TB + 1xSSD 2TB (Crucial)] + [1xSSD 1TB (Samsung)] + 1 HDD Seagate 2TB + 1 HDD Seagate External 4TB - Monitor LG 29UC97C UWHD Curved - PSU Corsair RM1000x // Thrustmaster FCS & MS XBOX Controllers
March 26, 20224 yr I just opened the program, went to Content Manager, and there was nothing new there. James David Walley Ryzen 7 7700X, 32 GB, RTX 3080
March 26, 20224 yr Hi, I've just installed the patch. Before that I had 273 GB free in my 500 GB SSD disk, after this last update I have 278 GB free. I hope it is ok now. Regards.

On the left side click box "update available" and there is no update there? I see one and I'm downloading now. Just finished downloading and it freed up 5 GIG. March 26, 20224 yr Those 4,4 - 5,0 GB are not a big deal unless you're really short of disk space in your MSFS drive. As mentioned in the post at FSDevelopers.com, these files are never called/read by the sim, they're just taking disk space, so even if it's not the best tech solution, you can leave them there. And, more importantly, the WU8 patch is still incomplete, in the sense that there are still unnecessary files inside the new airport folders (LECO, LESU and the other two) that were not corrected by the patch (so, maybe it'll be another one?). March 26, 20224 yr Even with the update I still see double windsocks at LPPI. Anyone else? Can this be fixed? I'll start a new thread. MSFS
