SU8 ruined controller sensitivity

Featured Replies

I'm not the only one with this issue right?  You can have to reset controller sensitivity curves each time you start the sim now.

This has happened before and it's silly that the SAME issues keep showing up every other SU or so.

For me this is important because my CH throttle is ancient and has sticky top and bottom of its range.  So I make those a deadzone so I can produce idle power settings

This started happening to me after the last update as well (affected the sensitivity on my Tobii head tracker)...

Some of my controller mappings when kaput after this last update. So, yeah. I wish they were better at releasing new versions.

Really annoying. I get my controls setup for a particular aircraft and weeks/months later they break it and I have to re-research what and how. Tough on an old dude with marginal mental capacity.

This is not happening to me.  Do any of you have backups?  In addition to weekly system backups I also copy my MSFS profiles folder to a thumb drive.  It is in a folder path like this:

C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs

With a strange set of subfolders with names like:

000901FDE8E88D49_00000000000000000000000069F80140

Each subfolder holds a file with an equally strange filename. You can open them and look at them with an .xml compatible editor such as notepad++.  The header section of the files look like this, which helps you identify which file is which of your profiles.

Not happening to me either, my rudder sensitivity is the same since August 2020.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Ahhhh oh how I love thee MSFS.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  I don't keep backups fwiw.  That sounds pretty intense Frank.

I use EaseUs and make a backup in the background while working. No intensity at all.  I use a replacement file manager (Powerdesk Pro) to replace Windows Explorer and it saves folders as "favorites", which on one click takes it immediately to folders it has saved. It also has a file viewer for many file types which allows me to look at file contents of appropriate files (jpeg, doc, xls, txt, xml, png, etc).  Easy peasy.  No intensity what so ever.  As easy as using Addons Linker (in another context).  Backups have saved me multiple times.  I keep two and rotate them.

Since SU8 Beta the Extremity Dead Zone and Reactivity will not stick for me. I have to adjust these settings every time I start the sim.

Testers advised Asobo during the Beta but unfortunately a fix did not make it to the release.

Same for me I have an old throttle quadrant I use for a spoiler axis now and need the extremity dead zone to stop chatter at one end of the axis.

‘Hope it is fixed for everyone who experiences this in SU9.

No Idea! Win 11 is not in my immediate future.  My 18 month old system is humming along perfectly and if it ain't broke I ain't messing with it!  I will say that then-current versions of Powerdesk Pro worked just fine at the time of the releases of Win 8 and Win 10.

Yup, it's definitely happening for me.  Noticed the condition lever on my Kodiak preset was being cut off prior to being pulled down into the detent.  The "extremity dead zone" of 20% I have set to prevent it from happening, is reset upon each sim restart.  Very annoying.

Many of us don't do weekly system backups, perhaps something to think about?

Before this MSFS2020 came on the market I don't recall of anybody having the need to do constantly backups of any flight simulator all these years.

Obviously there is something terrible wrong with this ASOBO constantly braking something with each update.

My system is not dedicated 100% to flight simulation.  Many other purposes.  I am not just backing up flight simulation elements.  I back up my entire system.  1 TB SSD and 256 GB SSD and it takes about 90 minutes after I turn in for the night.....  It is a routine I have used since way back in the streaming tape backups days.  My flight sims have occasionally benefitted from the routine.

Are any of you reporting this issue creating and saving aircraft-specific profiles for your hardware controllers?  i.e. multiple profiles per device?
