Thanks. That's what I was asking. I sometimes feel like Asobos custom versions aren't very well optimized when compared with some offerings from 3rd parties, but perhaps NY is just a really compute heavy context.

MSFS2020 and Zwift So my options are that i can jump on the last hurrah bandwagon now ..

I think you must have my type of man/pain/simulator cave.  Level 32 Zwifter, but I run it on an old gaming laptop in the basement.

Level 43 Here on a Wahoo Kickr Core under a 2018 Scott Foil + 42 inch Tv

But ill leave it at that before the mods start asking what's this Zwift thing is about and does it fly ? LOL

FBW Exp at JFK, 2560x1440 + 100 Render/300 LOD Ultra everthing else w/ 5800x3d cpu 18.7 w/ MainThread Limited. That is at 4200mhz, the same as I had the 5800x at. Ram and GPU settings are the same. That is a 3fps LOSS and is somewhat disheartening, to say the least. I have to stop playing around right now and am going to give some thought to just putting the 5800x3d on Ebay instead of my old cpu.

always depends on multiple factor and upgrading from a 5800x was probably not a good investment. I am coming from a 3800x so that's a big jump for me.

Is that on the ground? This is not too surprising considering there seem to be several bugs causing poor CPU utilisation and the MainThread to be hammered when on the ground. In case you're not aware, I've listed some of them here.

How's your performance in the air?

Meh .. it was worth a Shot .. Thanks for being the guinea pig Though !! .. Props !!

The only thing that can possibly explain that bad performance is not having a Bios and chipset update ?

I'll not be installing my 5800x3d until Sunday or Monday as I'm working the weekend the overtime will pay for the CPU, it arrived yesterday (12 Hour shifts) so obviously I'm fairly knackered after work, although I did update my x570 M/B yesterday ready for my new Cpu.

I grabbed one for a work build today (VR stuff) and I am going to swap it out this afternoon for my 5900x. Not expecting much but it should be Interesting to try. If it’s somehow better I guess the work build gets a 5900x 🙂 if not, I guess the work build gets it back.

I just logged some numbers on the ground at KORD (fsdreamteam), KAPA, KJFK, and KBOS.

And yes, make sure you update your bios. I just looked for my MB and it specifically has an update for 5800x3D performance.

I did update the bios but had grabbed it the 1st of the week, not after the Wednesday release of the cpu. I am going to go back and check again to make sure as Asus is usually quick to update as needed. I will check on chipset drivers while I am there. I just got back home so will get back to it. Win11 also had an update yesterday and if I don't find any answers with the bios and chipset drivers I will try rolling that back and check again.

Umm I am showing 60 FPS on the ground at KORD. Need to check I didn’t lower something.
