I've been getting Connection Lost all day and now I'm getting please insert game disk while starting which in the past has been associated with MS servers being unreachable.

MSFS is starting for me now so hopefully someone kicked the servers back into life.

Well this is weird. When I had this problem this morning I was flying in Ireland.  I then rebooted the PC, did a flight in the UD and one in Costa Rica, no problems at all. I just started a flight in Ireland again, and same exact problem. I wonder if this has to do where you are flying, and the scenery that streams from that area?

That's the way how internet works, right? 😉

the 'fix' in the video is just a stock 'hosts' file that reverts a modifed hosts file that the Google streaming mod uses to trick the sim into downloading Google's imagery... it has absolutely nothing to do with the random online services disconnects people are getting. it is purely coincidental that your disconnections stopped if you never tried the Google mod.

Well whatever you think, it fixed the issue I was having with disconnecting and hopefully will fix it for others too.

I got an "unable to verify your id" and then an 18G update which effectively reset all my settings.  Hoping that when my user id is finally verified I'll have my original settings back.

<sigh>

People on the FS Forum said their settings were reset to default.

Yup!  Fortunately my controller settings were ok but all my graphics and custom settings have to be reinput.

Bummer.  😞

Wow.  Did you run that 30 GB update, that I was told my perfectly running MSFS needed?
