How has release of FENIX impacted FBW's future?

Slightly off topic, but how is the VNAV in the FBW A320 coming along now? I last flew it a few weeks ago and found the VNAV very buggy during the decent.

VNAV is what I'm mainly waiting for and then I'll go back to flying the FBW A320 along with the Fenix.

Vnav works perfectly in the Fenix.

I know. I said I’m waiting on it for the FBW so I can resume flying it. Right now I’m just flying the Fenix.

I love the FBW and the work and passion the Team puts in. For me it is fun flying the FBW despite of also using fenix

Yeah, it's a shame you even have to defend your free addon that got most of us through the MSFS early days.

Something new and shiny comes along and folks all of a sudden become arrogant and brand new against a FREEWARE PRODUCT by actual DEDICATED CONSISTENT Developers who have supported us since day one 😏

There are payware devs who don't even match the level of professionalism, courtesy and dedication of FBW.

THIS!!!

Why is this even a topic?  FBW is FREE and very Study Level.

Come on man we love what FBW is doing and what they have done since day one MSFS dropped  but not to be controversial its fts far from what you say. Sorry but how many aircrafts in any sim can legit claim this? I have heard Fenix is the (claimed by real world pilots as close as it gets in a desktop sim) replica of any airframe but is that even really true.

To be honest I used the oft bantered term “Study Level” as a quick way of implying that these are complex aircraft with multiple interdependent systems that must be operated according to SOP to have a successful. flight.

From what I’ve read the term “Study Level” means nothing in the industry. It’s just a phrase we invented to imply many different things depending on your agenda. Mine is clearly stated above.

Agenda? as from the words from the Movie Full Metal Jacket  "Sergeant Hartman" I say lighten up Francis, Don't take this too seriously. just because FBW is a replica of a NEO doesn't mean you can replicate it as a counter part to the RW thing in a study way while the Fenix is way more mature "by a long shot" that can replicate a CEO to the closest thing to its counterpart for study and if you don't want to believe that than that is up to you and us others who are not "real world pilots" that will shell out 60 USD for the closest replica we can get on a desktop in a learning way and that is all I am going to say.

It would make more sense to turn the tittle of this topic around.

How many sales did Fenix miss because of the FBW A320.

I see several people who dont need the Fenix a320 because of the FBW one.

I only fly jet liners on occasion and am pretty happy wit the FBW a320 so I'm not going to buy another one.

If the FBW a320 was not around  I certainly would buy from Fenix.

As far as trust in a community developed aircraft I quickly think of Falcon4. more then 20 years after release I believe the community is still active.

Hey there.

No, our project has not really been affected. The reason you for example do not see many #progress updates anymore, is actually because of another reason entirely - the project is at a stage where all features being worked on are massive amounts of work that take months. Including but not limited to:

- NDv2 (more accurate and smoother map rendering, integrating into ARINC 429 data busses, better performance)

- First implementation of the flight warning system (fully simulated signal acquisition simulation involving voltage measurement and different kinds of electrical signals, correclty assigned to the FWC hardware inputs - extremely accurate sound generation module that reproduces real life delays, time-outs, quirks and conditions - and more) which is a 14,000 lines of code addition that will form the base of what will eventually simulate the entirety of the FWC warning set - thousands of different subroutines.

- SimBridge and remote displays - app that allows you to access local files on your computer from the flyPad, as well as view **any display** over the network - whether that's for a home cockpit setup or for a simple tablet-based display of whatever screen you want - MCDU, flyPad and PFD/ND/ECAM.

- Full simulation of the EFCS, including standalone implementations of the ELACs, SECs and FACs - normal/alternate/direct law with accurate behaviour and modelled data bus outputs - this is not only modelling system behaviour, it also replicates how the systems internally communicate with other computers. This will be useful for a future system I cannot say too much about right now.

- Full hydraulic linkage of the control surfaces, allowing the system to react to loss of certain surfaces accordingly and reducing controllability in a realistic manner.

- VNAVv2 with a more reliable vertical profile, latched descent, CDA and more

- FMSv2 with missed approach segment, proper MAP, secondary flight plan

So it is really just a matter of how long those things take. In the early days, we were able to push 15-20 changes a day (!) simply because there was so much simple things to fix and add. Nowadays, we are comfortable with our codebase and everything that is to be done is a pretty big effort, which just doesn't give the same speed of progress as before.

We will make sure to keep everyone updated as to when these things come - we do often drop unannounced screenshots in our discord channels as a sneak peek, which I see a user here has already taken note of 😉. For those who do not like Discord, we are planning to do another In The Hangar stream soon, recaping what has been done recently and showing off what's coming in the future.

As for the A380, things are progressing - we are not trying to rush the aircraft, as, just like the A320 - we do not believe in being first. We believe in taking the time to do something right, especially as we are a volunteer team. I still fully believe we can surpass your expectations, given the time 😉 Modeling of the cockpit is almost done, with texturing starting soon. Systems are slowly starting to be worked on, mainly waiting on code logistics to be easier and some more documentation.

And by the way - thank you everyone who supports us and thank you especially to the people who take note of all our upcoming projects we leak *cough* I mean preview on Discord 😉 it means a lot to see people excited about our work.

I’m really looking forward to your A380 for MSFS. I feel it’s an underrated aircraft that’s not been given a lot of interest in flight sims, so your A380 announcement made, and many of us, very happy.

I love the FBW Airbus.  It's the first flightsim model to have converted me to Airbus.  I didn't even take to the FSL in P3D days, mostly because I was in a PMDG coma.  That has changed in MSFS.  I don't even find myself spending any time with the PMDG 737 anymore.

But one thing has always remained true.  Your  favourite aircraft is only your favourite until a more feature rich model comes along,  be it freeware or payware.
