SU10 beta 528MB update today

I did today's update and all is well. But I did notice that, for some odd reason, my graphics setting was changed from Full Screen to Windowed mode. So if you're noticing slight differences in the way the sim looks or performs, you might check this setting.

Hi,

My graphics settings changed to windowed too!

Regards.

Hi, again,

Another thing: since I installed the SU10 Beta Flight Simulator is not shutting down. It stays on the taskbar and I have to use the task manager (Control+Alt+Delete) to close it.

Anyone with the same issue?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, same here.

Hi guys, here's my feedback:

.) display kept in full screen mode after the update;

.) didn't notice any quirks with shutting down the sim sessions;

.) after updating, and without closing MFS, I decided to go for a Fenix A320 LPPR-LPPT flight. As I lodaded the aircraft I found it strange that the Fenix App didn't open twice as usual during the loading process. When lodaded the Virtual Tablet displayed an error message stating it couldn't communicate ... Restarting MFS fixed it.

Didn't find any stutters after updating, but I flew only over Portugal.

Not being able to shut down MSFS occasionally was in my original beta, not just this update.  I think I remember it working first time in, but not after that.
Clicking on the "return to windows" button or whatever it is, did nothing over the weekend.  I just use Alt-F4 to quit.

It is the only new bug I have found up to now, but it is also a shame they seem to keep overwriting peoples settings when an update is installed.  I had to redo mine.

It also seems to keep installing an 8GB cache which I don't want.  It is the first thing I turn off and delete now every time.

No changes here... smooth as before, same loading times, no options changed apart from the windowed mode.

Hi,

More issues: since yesterday's update, the VFR Map is not working. It opens, but it's blank!

And FS2020 crashes when minimize or move the map.

Greetings.

I have this, but only sometimes (maybe 1 out of 10x). I try to give the sim some time between going back to main menu and "Quit to Desktop". Do not know if this really helps but it´s not doing any harm for sure.

Hi, mpo910.

I did that, but it didn't work for me.

Another thing that happens since SU10 Beta Update (not the small one from yesterday) is that the HDR is not working automatically. I have to put the simulator in Windowed Mode, then I have to minimize it to the desktop and, finally, maximize it. It is the only way that HDR works now. It's very weird. I have to do this operation every time I start MSFS.

I hope all those nuisances will be solved with the final update.

Regards.

Hi John!

OK. Understand.

About your HDR I can´t comment because I do not have a HDR monitor. I use VR (Varjo) mainly and "just" a 32" Samsung FreeSync 4k monitor without HDR.

But I also noticed some other strange issue.

Image Scaling (sharpening via Nvidia CP) work fine before today. I started the sim this morning, Windowed mode was on, without me having set that, I used full screen always, but since the small patch yesterday it was in windowed suddenly, and I got a grainy film when I set full screen again!

When using windowed mode (ALT+Enter) the grain is gone, when switching back to full screen (ALT+ENTER again), grain is back again. Also, when in Fullscreen and seeing the grain, when bringing up another mask like Nvidia CP on top of my sim fulls screen mode, the grain is gone, putting my sim back on top again, grain is back again.

I have turned of Nvidia image scaling for now, I do have very limited time to test properly what happens. Before raising a ticket I would have to reinstall my Nvidia drivers and deleting my sim settings to be sure nothing is broke at my end.

So, I do see anomalies with windowed and full screen indeed, but not with HDR, instead with image scaling.

Whenever MSFS would not shut down (in my experience), I always found it to be something in the community folder.

So far, in the beta and after yesterdays mini-patch, I have not had that problem.

hdr is not working for me. I can see in dev mode that it says sdr. This is with hdr selected in windows and the sim. Resorted to just selecting sdr until fixed.

No stuttering or shutdown issues since the update.  Dx12.

Sigh…

Typical MSFS update… breaks more than it fixes!

Hope then can sort all these issues out before official SU 10 release and the “mandatory” update that follows.

It's a blessing that this wasn't dropped on everyone without beta testing. What a horror story that would have been.

The update consisted of one file in “fs-base-genericairports”. It did update all the BGL files in the sub-folders under that main folder. The main FS executable did not change, nor any other files containing executable code. On my system, performance is exactly the same post-update as before the update.

One thing I always do after any update is to delete all scenery indices, and I do not use a rolling cache at all. Since the file apparently changed elevation data at some airports, there could be a conflict between current and previously cached scenery data for those who have problems with performance after the update.
