Starting discussion already knowing the result (game vs. simulation) , causing a heated disagreement between members trying to defend their positions for topics known for ending in disagreement without a common position is a troll behavior in my opinion. And I think you know it because you mentioned it in your posting ;-) and even I feed you, but if it satisfies you then Iam happy.

He may not be as aware of the sim vs. game ridiculousness that has gone on, as we may be. Therefore, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Or whatever they call it. And he may not even acknowledge the sim vs. game thing at all, kind of like my attitude towards it. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

July 25, 20223 yr Not sure what the definition of a troll is, but to re-start this well-worn issue yet again, for what seems like the 10,000th time, serves no constructive purpose whatsoever. The good news is that this kind of thread is becoming less common as MSFS matures (and hopefully its users do too).

You seem to have deluded yourself into the irrational fantasy that you can definitionally wipe away MSFS's obvious superiority and domination over XP. But word selection (game, simulator, software, etc.) does not affect empirical reality. "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." You're embittered because MSFS is stealing the show, and justifiably so. This forum gets more posts in one hour than the XP forum gets in a month. MSFS is a masterpiece of software engineering. It is vastly superior to XP visually. And it is vastly superior to XP in terms of performance. The retort that XP has a better "flight model" has become a Tourette-like, obsessive-compulsive, fetishistic tic from those watching an antiquated piece of software attempt a dead-cat bounce with the XP12 beta. I feel like this might’ve been a bridge too far. Although I found the original post a little silly and something that most of us just roll our eyes over and just move on, I don’t think this kind of hostility does anybody good. Dragging the old XP Vs MSFS was also something this whole conversation didn’t really need. Don’t we have enough of these silly arguments enough? Sure, I agree with you— my opinion is that MSFS is leaps and bounds better than XP and the all the too familiar rebuttal XP folks like to use like flight model gets a little silly when the majority haven’t even flown a 737 in real life, but — maybe next time keep it a little lighter? As someone as else very well said… it’s just a game 😉

I dunno, I was talking to a irl Goat yesterday and he said the balance dynamics were spot on and they did a great job on attitude modelling (he did say the climb performance probably needed a tweak though and the Pee factor was under-done)

No matter what game you MSFS, XP, P3D and etc you won't solo next day in real airplane Although I disagree Microsoft Flight Simulator is a game, I do agree with your point above. I bounced on my first real world landing, then tried my best to land on the nosewheel - the pressure and new sensations of being in the real aircraft I guess. However, My instructor was more than impressed with my knowledge and general handling of the aircraft. Apart from the bounce, every other stage of the flight went very well. Flight planning, aircraft performance, circuits, navigation, ATC, weather - all went completely smoothly because of my 15 years using a flight SIMULATOR. Hardly anything in the real aircraft was different to the simulator apart from the extra pressure of being in the real world. The fact MSFS time can't be used to log time is neither here or there. July 26, 20223 yr It's both a game and a flight simulator. When my five year old great grandson flies to Pitts, after I get him up high enough so he doesn't crash, it's a game. Lot's of fun. When I'm struggling for weeks trying to learn how to fly the Fenix, it's a flight simulator. Sometimes not so much fun. Enough said. Instructor is not happy - stress level high! If you crash in a game restart, start over - no consequences, no stress, may be little ego damage LOL ) So if a pilot uses the same sim to practice, but not as part of a check ride, it becomes a game? V1 Simulations released a video in the Fenix A320 where he setup for random failures. The failure he got in MSFS required the same flows, checklists and FMC programming. He used the same navigation data as the real world and made the same calculations regarding aircraft performance and airport data - he was simulating flying the A320 and he was simulating a failure.
