Its also significantly more than the £2000 you gave once you add a decent monitor, sound keyboard and mouse.

Sparks. Seriously. I'm a windows guy and have been since the year dot and am not going to change now. I'm running an i7 10700 32GB ram and an RTX2070 on Win11. With regard to XP12 what upgrade would give me the best value. CPU or GPU? (If you advise anything that costs more than a grand I'm going to have to pass you over to my wife to get it authorised!😀)

Anything else than a GPU upgrade would borderline insanity when considering the price and effort of a CPU/Mobo upgrade. Consider a 3070 or better, I would wait for the 40 series.

Yeah. I thought that might be the case. I used to be paranoid and keep up to date. Now I'm happy to be a couple of years behind. I've no doubt my existing system will run XP12. Hopefully. 👍

I am still concerned about the performance of XP12. LR will need to have performed miracles in order to add the eye candy with no performance loss.

Don't rule out a new PSU then! Some gossip is saying +40% power requirement.

Also, in addition to v11 being 50% off, the LR social medias have been curiously quiet for the past 5 days.

Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

Hardware or none, I just hope that the FSX release fiasco won't ever repeat for XP12. Imagine spending all of the "Thank you for your service" cash from the military on a top of the line rig (C2D E6600, 8800GTS, 2 GB RAM) just to find out that FSX won't ever deliver more than 30 FPS without huge sacrifices in visual quality. A course in overclocking, hardware performance and two service packs later and things finally ran acceptably, but man, all that tweaking for just one more frame per second was one huge waste of time in restrospect.

My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days

I'm hoping against hope that there'll be some way to get XPUIPC working in XP12, as all of my X-Plane compatible ATC add-ons require it.

I guess so many of you did not watch that last interview so closely, Austin did mention that all the 220 or so testers some who do not have the latest hardware all said xp12 was much better and he was quiet surprised. Im not surprised of all the wrinkled faces, all the worry for nothing, so much negativity, hmm wonder if that will power an electric car.

Well, I rteally don't know because he didn't invite me !  That's UGLY to say the least, and I will never invite him again to my birthday parties !  220 guys who surely know nothing about flight simulation at all, and me left out 😕  Disgusting !

But of one thing I am sure !  XP12 will not run in my i9 with 64 GB RAM and dual RTX 3090 Ti , multi-monitor + VR setup ! That's bad enough for me !

I couldn't watch it unfortunately. Meyer is far too hysterical and bombastic. It's job done. He honestly should let go and sell X-Plane. The cult is holding the sim back imo.

Just my opinion. Seen it so often to know that times up when one man hangs on too long.

@jarmstro, sometimes i think, your time here should be over. To have a opinion is ok, but in almost every discussion the same old record is awfull.

-----------------------

All the time LR said, that the actuell hardware will be good enough.

In the XP 11 mostly the bottleneck ist the CPU. So they said that they changed it in XP12 to give more work to the GPU

I think, that so, althoug the new things that are comming, the fps will be good for flying a sim.

Their are so many informations from LR, not only from Austin, to XP 12, but if the people don't watch and hear them ,then we can read such a bulword not allowed.

For me its not as easy, because English is not my native language.

You do know xplane is a "flight simulator", and that it does rather well. Austin never promised a travel scenery simulator, we have one of those already. You know where to find it,
