Sim Update 10 Beta 1.27.14.0 available now

Featured Replies

Ugh...in DX12 with my RX 6800 it is very smooth and fluid - buf despite several betas I’m still missing massive sections of the runway at times with only the orthophoto runway surface beneath.

But at least it’s SMOOTH...the smoothest sim I own and I own them all.

Hopefully they can fix this?

Performance in DX12 has been spot on here with no loss of performance, But i am on a AMD 6800, Infact despite being in Beta,  i have not had a stutter, or CTD since it was launched. No doubt the upgrade has helped. But it has certainly been far more stable for me.

Same for me with 5800X and 6800XT. Very smooth experience.

For those with all AMD machines: Ensure you have SAM enabled in your BIOS. AMD is continuously refining SAM enhancements with each new driver release. And by the way, the new Adrenaline 22.8.1 drivers has been released yesterday.

So apparently HDR is working correctly now, as per user reports here:

HDR is non functional in [Testing both DX11 and DX12] - Sim Update 10 BETA / Install, Performance, and Graphics - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums

But it seems to be behaving like in .13 in that even though you have it turned on in the menu, in order for it to work, one has to go to window mode, resize/move the window, then return to full screen. So yeah, fixed but still requires this weird workaround.

Yeah, I guess it looks kinda washed out.

To help with this - GEForce Experience Filters/Details/HDR Toning - Turn it way down.

I think it looked washed out because HDR was not actually on. Doing the resize window trick and it's pretty obvious that it's working.

Thanks for this. I have it now turned on.

Apart from HDR, turning down HDR Toning helps.

Hi,

It's exactly what happens to me.

Impossible to control light and colours.

Greetings.

But that's the point I'm trying to make to you, they may not get the optimisations back because of the fixes they have to make elsewhere. 🙂

Therefore they won't include a setting for something that might not exist 😉 again all hypothetical, only they know what's going and we can only guess. DX12 is and will be in beta for some time yet, so IMO there's no rush to "fix" this issue now as now the public SU10 build must take priority with its impending release.

That indeed might explain it.

DX12 worked very well but I will start using  DX11 for now.

The latest update is working well on my pc but I can't seem to save my settings for some strange reason, which means I am unable to change to DX11 to try it out! I can go into my graphics settings and change them fine but when I restart the sim they seem to revert to the original settings, anybody had this problem?

Nope. Write protected Usercfg.opt maybe?
