Sim Update 10 Beta 1.27.14.0 available now

Featured Replies

I just had those pesky "memory could not be read" CTDs re-appear out of nowhere. Currently in the process of reinstalling the sim (luckily I had a backup). The experience of beta testing SU10 so far:

Might be a good idea to vote on this:

I did.

That looks amazing.  What settings do you use?

Only two filters...

Details/HDR Toning -40 & Vibrance +10

I use the Google Map Mod set on 'High Lod'. Most settings on high, but all texture settings on Ultra.

Monitor AOC AGON AG352UCG UltraWide G-Sync @ 3440x1440
Internal Storage 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD
External Storage Three 4Tb HDs

The patch also updated the handcrafted EHAM and KORD. Not mentioned in the notes, I wonder what they touched.

I stopped using GeForce experience as it was constantly resetting my settings. It's possible to achieve something similar with ReShade. Adjust black curves and shadows in lightroom.fx. FakeHDR.fx gives some contrast, clarity and exposure. I'm also using FinalLight's LUT which aim for better color accuracy (e.g. whiter clouds).

EHAM is my home airport so if they have updated it I am also curious to know what has been done…

Not really looked at ReShade itself. Are there filters in reShade to lesson the blue colour at altitude?

There is. I highly recommend the preset I mentioned above. But from your screenshots you've got a very good setup already.

https://flightsim.to/file/20557/finallight-reshade-preset-realistic-colors-and-tone-fixes

From the author's description:

  • Correct the tone of the sim that was red shifted.
  • Reduce the white haze over the image, giving the image a more contrasty solid look.
  • Make clouds white again, removed yellow/beige tint.
  • Change the colors of the atmosphere

The only thing I haven't solved is the excessive blue at altitude.  If vibrancy is increased everything is massively over blue - fields, deserts, mountains etc.

I don't think there's any point in testing DX12 at the moment, until they sort out the issues with VRAM management. Before they disabled the memory manager though, I was getting very promising results in DX12, with exceptionally smooth performance (in fact the best yet in this sim), and very decent CPU multithread usage.

Specs in my signature.

Thanks... I really hope they get the VRAM issue sorted before release... we have the same GPU and paid good money for that VRAM! 😛

BTW, it seems signatures don't display on mobile... but on my laptop it's all good.

Viewing the cockpit interior seems improved despite the intense brightness outsde since this beta update.

It does not reset my MSFS settings here.

For years I did not try GFE but in Mai this year I thought that I would give it a shot.

I made subtle changes but the overal image looks more real to me. The line between clouds and sky above is sharper now and it all looks slightly more dramatic.

That last one looks more natural to me, but this will turn out to be very subjective I think.

Yes, and let's not forget that the real result (not the screenshot or the photo) also depends on the screen.

I'd try to adjust the screen settings first (RGB, color temperature, sharpness, etc.), which is also fps-free, unlike Freestyle filters which have a cost in terms of performance.
