The update is fantastic! The sim now runs like it did when the SU10 beta was first released. I took off from KJFK and flew over downtown NYC with a thick cloud layer, and everything was totally smooth on my seven-year-old system.

Please note that if you currently have your options set to the DX12 beta, and you want to see how this update works for DX11 (for which it is intended), you'll have to set the option back to DX11 and reboot MSFS from scratch before the changes will take effect.

I have my sim back now! 🙂

A bunch of 'psocache' files and a DX11 shader file among other things were modified/created.

Nothing needed to be downloaded after launching the sim, so it was just a core file update.

“New PC Update - 1.27.16.0 (August 19, 2022)

A new beta build will soon be available for PC only (both MS One Store and Steam users). The focus of this build is to improve performance for DX11 as we hope the results will be in line with earlier beta builds. A survey is available here for those testing performance on DX11. We encourage you to complete it and provide any details if you are not experiencing an improvement to your DX11 performance.

Our team is still hard at work regarding memory management on Xbox, which we believe is a contributing factor to some poor stability we are seeing on the platform. We will provide an update next week as soon as we know more.

As per the discussion in yesterday’s Developer Q&A, we are also working with NVIDIA on driver related issues affecting DX12 memory optimizations, and will re-enable those changes once a fix is in place. We thank you for your patience as well as your feedback these past few weeks.”

EDIT: The survey can be found here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/dx11-performance-survey-1-27-16-0/537442

Wow I hope it's not all an illusion.

Just ran a quick test at CYYZ active runway (FlyTampa) and saw a fps increase from 32 to 40 which is nicely appreciated. Unfortunately the frame jump doesn't seem to apply to VR, still have the same fps. Will need to do some more testing though.

The official MSFS forum is filled with positive comments about the new release this evening. I almost feel like I should buy a vicious dog to guard this beta release, lest anyone try to take it away from me again.

You need the Rabbit of Caerbannog to guard this beta.  No one would touch it then.

That’s good that DX 11 performance is restored to beta patch 1 performance.  If it’s restored and everything else is stable, I am fine with them releasing SU 10. Them fixing DX 12 performance would be nice, but I’m not sure if they can fix it within the next 2 weeks.

"them" meaning Nvidia in their driver, obviously "them" Asobo have discovered a problem with Nvidia's DX12 driver. as if having to identify and fixing their own code wasn't enough already .... so much for "SU10 - what a train wreck" as some §$%&# posted here recently 😊

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

Big change! I've never had so much fluidity in DX11!
Just a question there is always the problem on DX12 for some people the DLSS does not work...
At home I still can't try it...

I am seeing better multithreading and a 10-12% fps increase in CPU limited conditions compared to build 14.

A320Neo on EGLL09R passed from 36 to 41 fps.
