Unusually High FPS in SU10b

Featured Replies

This seems like a ridiculous thing to post about, but I'm confused.

I'm showing an average of 90 FPS in the FENIX while in cruise. On the ground (LFMN by Justsim) I was getting an average of 86 FPS. This is in 2D mode. In VR, while in cruise, it's indicating 80-90 FPS. I've never seen that before, ever. Not even in a 172 over the ocean at 10,000'.

The only thing I changed was HAGS from 'OFF' to 'ON'. The frametime, as you can see is a bit wonky, but fairly stable. While panning, there is a slight judder, but no pauses/hiccups/etc. DX11, TLOD is set to 100 (2D and VR), and OLOD is set to 9.0 (VR, modded in the .opt). Could it be server related?

What as your performance before?

Before, in this same situation, i'd probably see around 45 FPS on the ground and upper 50's in the air. No idea what's going on. Just happened today. Landed in LOWI from this flight about 10 minutes ago, showing 88 on the ground... 😵

I heard the latest beta build has amazing FPS increases across the board. Can't remember where I saw the stats post, I think it was somewhere on Reddit. Will link if I stumble across it again.

So you actually went from 45 to 86 on the ground, and 50s to 90 in the air? Wow. The only explanation I can think of (in addition to HAGS) is some sort of divine intervention. You're on SU9, right?

EDIT: You haven't noticed any other unusual signs around you that could point towards the latter? Or perhaps experienced any of the following symptoms:

  • feeling very happy, elated or overjoyed.
  • talking very quickly.
  • feeling full of energy.
  • feeling self-important.
  • feeling full of great new ideas and having important plans.
  • being easily distracted.
  • being easily irritated or agitated

I knew it was too good to be true. I reinstalled RivaTuner, and crosschecked with DEV mode. For some reason, RTSS was adding about 1/3 more to my FPS indication. Needless to say, I'm still very happy with the sim's overall performance, but with the DEV mode FPS tool, I'm indicating around 50 in 2D and 30-35 in VR while on the ground. That's more like it lol. I'd be overjoyed if the latter were the case, but I had a feeling something was off.

There use to be a bug that if you pop-out a window, the FPS reported in the OSD is the sum of the two... do you have a pop-out open?

It's been awhile since I've flown an airliner in this sim, but my guess is a TLOD of only 100 makes a huge difference in FPS.  But if those are your usual settings, I dunno. Just take it and run with it. It surely won't survive the next update 😄

All I can say is, enjoy it while it lasts. Next week, it may be just a distant dream 😛

Hmmm...is it worth installing the SU10 beta?

If you have a fast internet connection and enough data allowance, then you have nothing to lose. It runs really well.
