Whatever the merits of MSFS when it’s working properly, I share the sentiment of the OP’s original post. For too many people and too often, the experience of just maintaining this software is execrable, from the enormous and unreliable updates, sometimes involving multiple steps which are seldom clear in advance, to the ever-present risk of some trivial system change - or no change - somehow triggering CTDs or authentication errors or the like. It’s easily the clunkiest piece of software I can recall using.

I think I would have to agree. I can't recall having encountered a more quirky, volatile and fragile software. It's a love-hate relationship. Mostly, I love it. Hence, I endure.

I think you've conveniently forgotten how much fun P3D could be, what with all it's quirks, and the need to have an entire battery of ancillary software to make it even remotely realistic. But as regards install, update etc with MSFS - it's appallingly complicated. What other software requires separate 'helper' apps (microsoft account; xbox account; gamer tag etc.) just to install it. And the whole xbox account so I can install on a PC is ludicrous. One could almost believe the whole thing was designed by the fed. gov.

Conveniently, I haven't touched P3D, so there's that 🙂 I did say I love the sim. Most of the time...

I think the true lesson here is to buy MSFS on steam, and don't buy from the windows store. 

buy a good Inter net connection for MSFS You can have a 3090TI but if you have a dial up 5kb connection does this sim no justice.

All my other games are on Steam so I didnt think twice about doing the same for this one. So glad I did. I will never go near the MS Store and will never spend a dime on anything from the MS Marketplace.

 

I remember that my server had something like this about a year ago.

If I am correct it had to do with Gaming services in the MS Store Libraty.  Either I had to un-and reinstall it or to update it …

I hate the MS store as much of anyone but the OP issues does not happen to everyone and I was able to fix it for many users in the past. 

You might try finding and deleting EVERY INSTANCE of MSFS folders on your system. Most uninstall processes leave other folders behind (Settings and things it saves). I'm not sure about all the folders MSFS installs from the Store App, but I'd check Program Data, Users\Microsoft, etc. If you find them Delete them. Then it may be wise to get CCleaner and run the Registry editor and clean out anything referenced to MSFS there too. That should allow a fresh start over. To find your specific folder structure try Google. Good Luck and Never Give Up.. (You Paid for it) 🤠

I seriously doubt if your ISP speed has anything to do with problems with MSFS.

 

You could try creating a new Microsoft account, spend a pound on joining Gamepass for the Month and retry installing MSFS.

You could find that signing back in using your current details after installation might allow you back in to the game.  It would only cost you a quid to find out.

MSFS is the only game I have from the store. I can download apps from the store with no  problem though.

I have a great connection with high speed internet and can download anything ,, anything but this, lol.
