This update is celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Flight Sim franchise, Meigs Field was a key part of the franchise for many years, being many people's first airport since it was the default for many versions. There are other airports coming with the update, they haven't announced what they are yet. Edited November 9, 20223 yr by Tuskin38
November 9, 20223 yr Flying out of Meigs would be great for the flight sim nostalgia…bring it on! Besides I’m never one to complain about getting something that is optional and free. It's a cute idea but it didn't mean anything to me back then and doesn't now. I prefer to look forward to new things. To me, it would be nice having Meigs Field again now that we can also have those beautiful Chicago downtown buildings to fly by as close as we would like. In short, I wouldn't bother. It is beautiful without a doubt, but not optimized at all. Even on my decent PC (specs below), it brings my PC to a crawl (12-15fps) when flying close (about maybe 1/2 mile away). I don't get this with Orbx London. I want to confirm what @bobcat999 said. The Drzewiecki Chicago scenery is unusable. It looks great but the horrendous FPS make it a waste of money. It's my only purchase for MSFS that I regret. The only reason I didn't ask for my money back was that I thought an update would be forthcoming to fix the problems. No such update ever came. I have long since deleted this lemon. November 9, 20223 yr Great! I remember Meigs very well, it's where i learned all about flying in FS3 or FS4. I may well set it as my default airport again. For those (like me) having the DD's Chicago Landmarks installed I'm curious to check if there's any interference with Meigs Field or viceversa. On Friday I'll know, I guess. November 9, 20223 yr I do wonder if it's going to be ORBX's version of Meigs field, I bought it back in the day for P3D. Since it's still not available for MSFS, maybe they made some sort of deal with Microsoft for them to use it. Looking forward to it 🙂 Edited November 9, 20223 yr by dikkeduif
