November 13, 20223 yr I just flew the Guimbal in attack helicopter mode across my home turf. Skimming the surface at 100 knots in VR with that canopy that gives you so much vision of what is ahead is so much fun, especially if you hop over power lines at the last moment and then go back down again. If there is a plane that "needs mandatory" to be flown in VR, those are the helis.

This one feels really good, honestly I feel they've tuned it so everyone could have a smooth time with it. The MSFS helicopters aren't anywhere near Dodosim temperamental, doing stuff like this in the old FSX Dodosim 206 would be insanity.🤣 Aha, for many months now I could not find or remember which was that great helicopter addon many years ago. November 13, 20223 yr Does anyone have problems with getting then new MSFS helicopters to reach max speed? I can get the Cabri to 95 knots max for instance at sea level. Changed sensitivity of the cyclic axis but no avail. Haha yes, I guess you need accustom your brain and phycology during several months like me (be very patient), in my case the beginnings was really really bad, a dizziness fest when walking, moving and wandering me around, and I forget that maybe in other persons (sat in a fixed wings fixed in its fixed sit much much better to begin in VR if we suffer dizziness when into VR with too much movements), and not to be much heavy in movements in the beginning with helis, at least not all the time 😊. I still from time to time very rarely during some milliseconds I get surprised feeling a bit dizziness in the heli e.g.. And more and more less, even in games that move your head themselves during some sequences, I get surprised how each time that dizziness disappear after... two years... using VR (in games if that happens I close eyes, not recommended flying haha, sometimes in the beginnings I went to bed still with dizziness, and telling me never more, and the next day or two days after when I almost forgot the dizziness, playing again), but now it is a pleasure and enjoy all the time, and waiting for the improvements in hardware and software in VR, no more flat panels, only to rest of the HMDs from time to time.

Here are their initial thoughts (video below that just came out) with some excerpts I captured:- "let me put it this way, when I heard about the new MSFS in 2019 I was really skeptical since FSX was not good with helicopters... they told me then I'd have to wait for them to do helicopters properly" - "27 updates later, we have helicopters, and being the skeptical guy I am, I sat down with Asobo to try it all out with the Guimbal G2" - "I don't try it with assistances, so I turned it all off, flew it, and I didn't crash ... I fly helicopters, if the flight model was bad I would be confused by it and then crash .. if the flight model was good, then I would do what I naturally do. I took off, did all my tests, ground effect, translational lift, few other things ... it all just felt great, guys, I was impressed" - "it's not perfect of course, it needs work ... but it is pretty freaking good" - "it was quite the experience, I am convinced, I am sold" - "there were a lot of absolutely amazing details" - "over 2 or 3 hour time I managed to talk to Sebastian a lot, it is absolutely incredible the amount of stuff they had to learn and then implement ... redo how rotor blades are influenced by forces ... rotor blades can have different densities in different section of a blade like the Guimbal and this is simulated - "there was one thing I was really really impressed with .. the speed with which the flight dynamics and simulation is processed, updated 1000 times a second .. this just shows the amount of detail" - "we are being heard ... they are listening, so always provide feedback to them" - "something else I want you guys to know, Sebastian told me while this is not yet the best aircraft in the sim, the Guimbal G2 is the best one they have done in its first iteration" - "I am pretty happy, pretty excited, this is the just beginning for helicopters ... we need to help them keep improving .. 3rd parties need to get on board for helis" - "you can turn on the visualizations and see the CFD airflow, it's amazing" - "everyone on the team are great ... I was really absorbed with everything Sebastian was saying , he is extremely passionate about flying, about the simulator, really smart guy" Looks like helisimmer will be joining MS/Asobo to live stream testing/showing the helicopters in action next week (Tue 15th) Sérgio is a long time friend 🙂 I was about to give him a phone call and ask if he's still using the Thrustmaster Rudder pedals I offered him back in 2008 when I decided to abandon flightsims and uninstalled them all and gave away all of my hardware to a few friends, Sérigio who by that time didn't have any rudder control system having won my first rudder pedals ( still without toe brakes ) 🙂 Sérgio is someone whose opinion I respect, a very objective simmer and someone who has a profound passion for aviation and rotary wings in particular. November 13, 20223 yr I’ve flown real helicopters in real life, I like the way the bell handles in the sim but it’s the darned sim that bugs me. I can assign a TQ6 lever to the collective and it works, but not matter what “Helicopter Throttle xxx” I assign it does absolutely nothing to the throttle. It never turns, I can get it to turn with the mouse but not an assignment. Is this an AOSBO bug? Anyone else seeing this? As for stability, I have the FlyInside Bell and I made some major changes to the profile so the Bell handles well. It’s just the throttle I wish I could control. Jack Sawyer
November 13, 20223 yr I really like the helicopters. Better than what I was anticipating for the first release 👍🙂 The controller latency has finally been reduced too. That was a gripe I've had with msfs from the start. Edited November 13, 20223 yr by dogmanbird
