This could/should have been x-plane 12 - more than plausible

the corruption is Global.

And all else aside, this one little factoid is why I love firing up X-Plane and just messing around, it's a tiny little oasis of people passionate about aviation, brilliant at what they enjoy doing, and largely immune from the corporate greed and corruption that stains pretty much everything else, save when their troll army feel like a little raid of the X-Plane forums to try and feel better about their life choices.

who knows where those come from?

Well, I'm basing what I said on

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/wasm-for-xbox-su12/549532/3

and

https://fselite.net/content/pmdg-provides-update-news-on-777-xbox-and-more/

Is there something in there you disagree with? Personally I very much doubt it will be in SU12 either, at which point I'm probably going to have to seriously consider getting WASM into XP12, there's quite a nice GPL A32NX by FBW for a tech demo....

There's always this pic from Janov, again, measuring photons in a cockpit. You don't need to measure photons unless you're making a photometric renderer. So, while I totally understand where you're coming from, I also can't deny that they really are being as physically accurate as possible.

It's really true that for some users the XP12 advertising has completely conditioned their brain to the point of absurdity.

Have you read my links?
No.
Read all the links, read the complaints of users, and aircraft developers, and even moderators.
There are hundreds of people who know about this BUG and have been reporting it for 6 years... and you still tell me about "realism" and absurd "photon" experiments.
Which photons??? 🤦‍♂️
In your opinion, starting today, to determine if a cockpit is realistically illuminated, I have to go and measure the photons ..... in front of my television screen? 😂
But did you and Janov understand that we are talking about a graphic representation on a screen, and that the screen IS NOT REALITY?

Find me an airline pilot who says the lighting of these daylight cockpits is realistic!

Do you see it or don't you see that they are the same?
Do you see it or don't you see that it's the same bug?
Do you see it or don't you see that that enlightenment is completely wrong?

You, Janov, and other nice fans will never accept that you're completely wrong on this dark cockpit thing.
Every time you try (desperately) to prove "the unprovable" you only risk covering yourself with ridicule.
Yes because if the dark cockpits of XP12 are "realistic" then also those of XP11 are identically realistic.
They are both black!
So XP11 and XP12 have the same "photon realism"? 😲
No they have the same bug, and we've known it for 6 years!

Dear xplane fans, instead of playing with "photon meters", learn to call it by its real name.
It's not difficult, I'll help you.
It's called BUG. 😉
Repeat with me.......... "B U G"........ok?....... yes!....... good. 👍👏

open art datarefs in XP12 then have a play with

/photometric/ev100

Then try and do the same in XP11...

Also, completely wrong thread, you should post this in

That script doesn't solve the problem.
If you change the photometric light value (15 default, changed to 12) you can remove the dark panel...

its not a script, its one of the new photometric controls.

This isnt a thread for photometric controls its a business related thread about things that are not in xplane yet but could should be.

yes, that is the reason you get a dark cockpit in the real world when looking outside, as discussed in detail in the thread I pointed you to.

Its also the reason you lose your night vision if a bright cockpit light comes on when its dark.

not sure what you think you are proving by showing not every xp11 art dataref has changed its meaning in xp12, but it certainly doesnt prove the new photometric lighting cant handle lighting beyond the normal dynamic range, which is what photometric lighting means.

Yes, sure, right up there with your magenta-generating GPU.

Required by Microsoft for their continued investment under the existing terms.

Terms effective from (date) and to (date) and what were the financial required performances in these terms which Asobo obviously failed to meet.  No guessing and conspiracy theories. Just post the terms required @mSparks

I deal with procurement contracts (work in the civil aviation industry,  8+ year contracts are very common) so obviously I am very eager to read your run-down of all numbers (which you have obtained for some unknown reason)

Look I'm asking very straightforward questions to you .- even bolded the important word.  But you circle around and counters with pseudo-scientific claims that I never really asked for in the first place.

And you call us that don't agree with you, trolls?

I get it now., X-plane is recreating how a Level-D simulator is looks like. Austin is sneaky 🙂

And youve had straightforward answers.

The sim updates for msfs are finished with in 3 months, with wasm still absent from next years roadmap.

What more could you possibly want?

Some relevant facts to support your claim. You have failed everytime. I did not ask for sim updates, did i?  I asked for actual numbers to support this:

"Required by Microsoft for their continued investment under the existing terms."

Please uncover the terms for us all.

If you can't, simply don't respond. I am only interested in these terms.

Ah yes, now XP PC users are generally people with private planes which is quite different than kids with XBox?  Ironic considering XP's largest segment is probably mobile users.... You know, kids with phones...

You really need to come down from your elitist high horse and just have logical conversations.

I don't need a real plane; I have two flight sims.

I really don't get this mentality to be honest. If third-party tech finds a way to deliver better results and one simulator utilizes this, people using another simulator reject those results based solely on the fact that the other simulator uses the same. Why are people so emotional about this?

If XP achieved something amazing I would hope for it to be implemented in MSFS as well if it improves it and I wouldn't give a hoot about whether it's using something that the other simulator is using as well.

Just reading through the pages and stopped here! Above quote is well stated. If XP had the resources and proven technology to implement default global scenery to improve the platform immersion they would jump on it! That’s not copying another sim. It is called advancing the realism of the default sim platform. It’s a no brainer!
