Aircraft and Avionics Beta: The 700 Longitude Is A Blast

You must complete the pages in perf data, including the weight page and the takeoff and landing data pages.

And after this is done the aircraft will automatically calculate the correct speeds?  That's how I figured it should work.  I must have been doing something incorrectly.

As mentioned in the dev updates and the dev Q&A, AAU1 is currently targeted for some time in January.

Sorry Matt, I was a bit over-optimistic.  I edited my post.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

@MattNischan  I still reckon you could give them an early Christmas present though.  The beta seems in good shape!

You cannot buy it separately, but I went straight in at the top level premium deluxe, and I have never regretted it. I think it is worth it.
The upgrade was worth it just for the classic (steam gauge) C172 in my opinion.

I remember quite a few people dismissing the idea of buying the premium deluxe version, claiming it didn't offer "much additional value". In hindsight, a kind of shortsighted assessment, if you ask me. 😄

I agree.  When I saw the original price, and saw the extra content for about an extra £60 in the UK, I immediately added up all of the extra aircraft and airports, and could see it would be better value than buying this afterwards from a third party.

Some single add-ons cost about £60+ (Maddog for example), but the MS / Asobo ones work out to just a few £ each!  As you say, proving to be even more exceptional value now with the AAU's, with still more to come!

I'm blown away with this update, I have been using Dakfly's excellent mod along with the WT G3000 mod and enjoyed many hours in this awesome aircraft! WT have really taken it to the next level👌I can't wait to do a proper flight soon, a new learning curve for me but I'm looking forward to it👍

Yes, the G5000 is a big difference to the G3000 I was also used to and no matter how I try I have failed to enter the flight plan manually as is required until WT enables import direct from Simbrief or Navigraph.  Roll on a decent Idi0ts Guide to the G5000 is what I need.

It's not that hard: 1. Figure out which runway you want to take off from and the likely runway you'll land on. 2. Build flightplan in Simbrief. 3. Print out the routing. 4. Fire up the Longitude (Batt 1/2 on, GPU On, Apu On, Lights as required). 5. Open the flightplan page on the left or right GTC (Garmin Touchscreen Controller). 6. Enter departure airport. 7. Enter arrival airport. 8. Select appropriate SID. Load. 9. On the other end select appropriate arrival and approach. Load. (8 and 9 are accomplished by hitting the PROC button. 10. Enter waypoints and airways by following along the flightplan you printed out earlier. --> constraints may have to be entered manually. 11. Check the entered flightplan on the MFD for consistency. 12. Done.

Attention: Only load the approach, do not load and activate.

I used to fly the Longitude a lot.  I haven't for over a year.  Just got in the plane and it seems the same. Do I have to do something to update it?  I just started up as previous and the flight plan came in from the World Map as it always did.  Is this only accessed by beta testers?

Only Beta Testers. It’s an easy beta. No one seems to be complaining. Take the plunge…the water is fine! 😎😎😎

That is unless of course you fly the PDMG 737 and are aware of this issue. The update seems like it's great, but not perfect.

Did you join the beta? If not, then nothing will have changed. In the AAU1 beta, the flight plan won't load, and you will have to enter it manually.

Many thanks for that list of procedures, the other problem I had was attempting to comprehend the shorthand in the flight plan so after watching MULTIPLE YouTube videos over night, I think I have learnt the following which hopefully you can correct if I am wrong:

SIDS    5 characters total, ending with a number

DCT    Direct to

VOR    3 letters

AIRWAYS    Always a a letter then numbers

WAYPOINTS    Always 5 characters possibly 2 numbers in middle

FLIGHT LEVEL CHANGE     Vor/F

STAR    5 characters total, ending with a number
