Fenix A320 vs FsLabs

Given their extreme slow pace of development I hope their first release for MSFS is either the Concorde or A330 as I'll definitely jump on those without hesitation 🙂 .. If it's an A32x, which I guess is the most likely, gonna be a very hard sell (even if in NEO form)

I believe the last time they mentioned the A330 was in May 2022: https://forums.flightsimlabs.com/topic/31971-may-12-2022-a-news-update/
We're also happy to announce that the A3XX product that we've been teasing for a while now is in fact the Airbus A330. We've been working on this product along side our other development and we expect to give you more news on that later on.

Did they say anything more about the A330 after that? Perhaps in the internal forums only available to customers?

I am a huge FSL fan but if they come to MSFS with an A320 variant as their first release, I'm in agreement in that it will be a very hard sell for me. They really do need to focus on the A330 and speed it the you-know-what up. They could also use a lesson in (more frequent) communication.

Couldn't agree more. Especially if they bring their pricing strategy from P3D/FSX over to MSFS. If they intend to ask for double or tripple the amount of the Fenix, then nevermind, IMO.

But given their development pace, I'd say there's a good change that Fenix have released the entire Airbus A319, A320 and A321-series, before they get their product out...

Yes, I think I agree. As much as I enjoyed the FSL 320 series in P3D -- and their product really struck me as the best that could be achieved on that platform -- I really cannot see me paying again now that I have the FENIX. I cannot think of what features they would add that would make me want to put the FENIX in the hanger and fly their version.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

I would love to see FSL come to MSFS with a premium product raising the bar for everybody else. But I just don't see it. They wasted so much time developing a dead aircraft for a dead platform it will be very hard for them to ever catch up - given they are notorious for their development at a glacial pace.

I can assure you Concorde is not dead and neither is P3D. I’m running both so how can they be? Unless I’m also dead! 🤣

Ray it is even PMDG have stopped developing for it. For simmers using commercial aircraft it is now a dead sim taking Concord out of the equation.  P3D v7 comes out that will be the final coffin for simmers and developers they won't continue. FSLabs is the only major developer I can think of that released Concord and very little updates and they will carry on focusing on MSFS. Parallel 42 will stop updating soon enough.

In response to others the pricing is going to be the major factor for FSLabs in MSFS. The only way they could salvage a high price of say £60/$60+ is releasing the A321 CEO along with the A321 Neo even then they may not do that well. Knowing Fenix will give you the A319/21 for a fraction of the price.

I'm with you on Concorde Ray. As far as P3D- do remember Austin 10s survive, they're just not causing traffic jams anymore... and now, a gentle steer back to the topic at hand.

If there are hundreds of addons available for P3D including PMDG and FS Labs how does that make it a dead sim? People can still purchase aircraft from those two developers.

If all addons were removed from sale, LM prevented sales of P3D and Hi-Fi ceased weather access for it that might class it as in limbo but still not dead.

Will MSFS be declared “dead” when MSFS24 is released?

And it’s spelt Concorde.

Ray, while i'm somewhat in agreement, the sad fact of P3D is that the "hundreds of addons" have VERY little official compatibility with the recent versions of P3D, especially v6.

For e.g., Concorde is v5 only, The MilViz birds are mostly v4/4.5 (a couple are 5 only, IIRC), PMDG is either, and so on.

AFAIK, only Majestic Q400 is officially supported in v6!

So unless one is willing to have multiple P3D installs, or limit themselves to just a couple favorite addons, or some devs can actually find the resources to release updates, it's easy to see why it's, if not "dead", at least moribund.

Of course you and I can carry on with the above limitations/compromises for years and years, but let's at least admit it: P3D is a dead man walking.

Because they have stopped updating for it FSLabs if I recall will get the Concorde to a state they are happy then leave P3D altogether. The Neo they were on about for P3D and A330 not heard anything since they are concentrating on MSFS.... PMDG If I recall don't have an installer for V6 you have to do some coding to get it to work. Same with other addons. They can purchase but in PMDG's case they are more likely going to be purchased for MSFS. Very few are going to purchase a $100 dollar product that looks quite bad and needs a lot of addons to make it work. MSFS 2020 will be a dead sim eventually when everything can be transferred over to 2024, eventually Asobo will shut the servers down for it. They said 10 years if they see that no one is using 2020 or very little they will shut it down before then to save money and what not. Most will want the new sim because of the features that are due to be added etc. OMG better call the police out for misspelling. Its such a crime.

Don't know when the last scenery was uploaded or even updated for V6. Parallel 42 really did not want to update Chase Plane, and If I recall they have said they will not be updating anymore or bare minimum and will purely focus on MSFS. Guarantee you could put a poll up and a lot would say P3D is a dead sim for simmers.

And therein is the difference between a dead sim and an older version of one that can run for as long as the owner wishes. No server, no sim.

BTW, I’m on v5.3 with no desire to install v6. I have no interest in Airbuses.

They don't need to shut down the servers for MSFS 2020 when MSFS 2024 comes out, because it runs on Azure cloud. Azure can scale up or down, similar to Amazon AWC.

When MSFS 2024 comes out, and people transition to MSFS 2024 but there are people still using MSFS 2020, the Azure servers for MSFS 2020 will scale dowm naturally. That is the benefit of cloud computing.

However, Microsoft may stop the markeplace for MSFS 2020, and stop development for MSFS 2020, after a few years, but just leave the MSFS 2020 servers on Azure running longer. With Azure and the ability to scale down the servers, it costs Microsoft very little money to leave the MSFS 2020 servers running.

Opinions should be formulated from all available facts.

Nobody's saying that P3D is bad or that it should be abandoned in favor of another sim or about the folks (like me) still flying in it.

Just that it's, at least for consumers, moribund.
