January 9, 20233 yr Takes a while to learn. Camera system especially. Not to mention Landing can actually be a challenge unlike p3d. I know it’s cliche. But the whole flying on rails thing actually is a thing. Don’t expect to have it figured out the first handful of flights. I rebooted the system started and flight at Prague and there it was, it all its glory. So how, after a 1.5hr flight from London, does it just disappear...and more importantly, how can I stop that happening again? Also, the random AIG insertion is just bizarre. When should I start AI traffic? As I start the sim or once a flight is loaded...? Not sure why the airport wouldn't be there. Once of the best things about MSFS is that everything just goes into the community folder. You don't have the funky layering you did in P3D. Airports just not showing up isn't an issue anymore. The only thing could cause that would be if ASOBO had made a handcrafted airport for LKPR in which case you would need to delete it from the content manager. The other case would be another add-on for LKPR resides in the folder. It could be your rolling cache needs to be deleted. I set mine to zero. As far as traffic, I use FSTL installed via the FBW (fly-by-wire) installer. I've heard AIG is way-way to involved. Jeff D. January 9, 20233 yr I think the key and what I learned is MSFS needs to be taken slowly and in single changes at a time - change, test, continue. I can certainly understand the desire to get it updated as quickly as possible however I have found when I throw several things in at once it will get a bit haywire or CTD and then I don;t know what was the cause. Also, controllers are very sensitive to set up and quite often it's the controller issue and not the addon. My FBW and Fenix planes are flying perfectly. January 9, 20233 yr It takes some time to get MSFS setup and learn the sim. Once you do that, you'll never go back. I've been on board from the beginning. I had to deal with the growing pains of a sim that is constantly being updated. The sim has improved and continues to get better. Take your time and don't be discouraged. Best regards. Jose MSFS
January 9, 20233 yr You do have some valid points. The planes in the game (especially airliners) fly like gliders. I can take the PMDG up, shut down the engines, full flaps, gear out, and full spoilers and it’ll gradually descend down at -2,500fpm. I notice the same with the FBW A320. There isn’t a lot of weight feeling to the planes. The mouse scroll is annoying when trying to use on knobs. And the camera system is pretty bad. / CPU: Intel i7-9700K @4.9 / RAM: 32GB G.Skill 3200 / GPU: RTX 4080 16GB / Freight Pilot

Getting all your settings, stick sensitivity, cameras, etc., will take some time, just like before. Words of wisdom right there.

But for a while I've been wanting to make the move to the "new sim" and I thought I'd take the plunge this weekend and try MSFS for the first time. What a totally awful experience. Here's how it went... - An absolute nightmare trying to get AIG AI to appear in MSFS. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I've configired both the AIG manager and AIG traffic properly but it seems to be completely random whether or not traffic decides to appear. I started by flight at EGLL and it was empty, despite adding most of the AIG library. However the moment I was airborne there was traffic everywhere...! - An incredibly complicated procedure of getting the TCA Thrustmaster quadrant to work with Fenix A320. FsLabs was a dream in comparison. - The Fenix A320 flies like a glider. The moment you disconnect the AP it starts swaying side to side like a Cessna in a storm. Totally ludicrous and goes against the Airbus logic. Having flown a Level-D A320 sim, it certainly does not behave like this. - The camera is a nightmare...why not have an easy interface like P3D does...one button to cycle views. - The AP on the Fenix A320 kept disconnecting randomly for no reason (and I couldn't get it to engage until about 3,000ft...again totally against the logic Airbus developed). - Interacting with buttons (right click, left click, mouse wheel) is cumbersome. The whole reason I don't like using the mouse wheel is because it's linked to the camera zoom...but it appears this sim forces us to use the wheel to move certain knobs (and then you end up zooming in and out whilst trying to change speed/heading/altitude). What's wrong with the left/right click that P3D uses?! - The AP logic on the Fenix A320 is, I'm sorry to say, miles from where it should be and does not replicate how the aircraft actually performs. - I installed Tailstrike Designs Prague airport for me to fly into. When I arrived, this is what I found https://imgur.com/wb7X7HG I mean seriously?! Did they just forget to build the airport??? I'd even checked that it was installed before I started my flight, but somehow on arrival the airport forgets to load...??!! How does this even happen?? I was really hoping that this would be the beginning of my transition to MSFS. But it appears the sim (or game as I think it actually is) is nothing more than a scenery showcase (when it decides to load it up). I'm really disappointed that so many things could go wrong to make the experience so unpleasant. The sim is limited and buggy and the add ons feel low rent. Such a shame. I'm glad companies like FsLabs are sticking to P3D for the short to medium term and it's clear that P3D is the serious sim...MSFS is an Xbox game. I mean, I can understand some frustration whem moving from an outdated simulator to an advanced and modern one with lots more moving parts and options, designed to work for a much wider audience, but the criticism of the Fenix really makes zero sense unless you forgot to turn off the assists. Configuring the throttle quadrant takes literally 5 seconds and it's explained very well in the documentation. Perhaps you should try approaching it graudally, instead of dropping complex stuff like AIG into it before you even familiarize yourself with the basic features, because it feels like you didn't. The whole "Xbox game" thing makes me think that you went into it with serious preconceptions and then went straight into confirmation bias. Just because you're used to something, it doesn't mean it's better. Edited January 9, 20233 yr by Abriael Editor-in-Chief at SimulationDaily.com
