Just takes some patience and the ability to think a bit.

UI is horrible, and controllers are not easy or intuitive to set up, and the view system is horrible, but you do get used to it eventually. The setup with Steam was easy enough. A breeze. The controllers are actually not easy to set up because MS in its infinite wisdom didn't add the necessary 10 lines of .txt to explain the sliders. It is indeed a trial and error process at first but the graphic interface helps a lot. The UI has strong and weak points. It could be user-friendlier (e.g. the menu cascade of world map overlays) and lacks features but I don't remember it being better in MSFS predecessors. The vanilla view system could be better and then again I don't remember that it was much better before. The record/replay system is a weak point. There is currently since SimUpdate 10 an object limit of 1000 that can be processed by Simconnect. Such objects are the AI aircraft injected by AIG, their respective Service Vehicles on the Ground, GSX Jetways and Ground Services. Once you go over that object limit, stuff like that will happen. That you suffer from this I can also glean from you mentioning that you don't see AIG traffic injected as soon as the traffic manager is running. It is bascially the MSFS version of the OOM error that used to plague P3D. What you can do to alleviate the problem is go into the AIG Manager and deselect the service vehicles for the aircraft and then run the verify setup tool. And also not have the traffic set at 100%. Does that not strike anyone as something that needs to be addressed pretty quickly? We've been trying to get this to Asobo's attention, but since it only happens when you combine two add ons in a certain way, they say it is hard to reproduce. They should just lift the object limit they introduced and the problem should go away. 😉

January 9, 20233 yr I agree, MSFS has the most awkward setup UI Ive used in any sim, its all over the place

However, I have a huge amount of experience in using complex airliners with AI traffic so thought I’d jump into MSFS and start from a position I was familiar with. Thanks for some of the advice. A couple of assists had been left on, so hopefully disable my these will make the Fenix A320 perform much closer to its realistic envelope. However, I am concerned about the disappearance of airports because MSFS can only create a certain number of airports. This makes flying with complex AI impossible surely?! Does anyone have a work around for this? Thanks You never answered to the fact you wrote basically the same "review" of MSFS a couple of years ago - so either you were lying then or you are lying now about trying the sim for the first time... Sorry but you come across more a troll than someone seeking help. In my 2 years of flying in MSFS in VR on a less than high-end system using TBs of add-ons, I have never had an airport disappear. MSFS is absolutely not perfect, and as you get more and more into it (assuming you get that far) you WILL encounter limitations and bugs in the sim - some of which are quite frustrating. But IMO it is by far the best option for us simmers - now and into the foreseeable future. It would appear the vast majority, if not all, issues you encountered in your "first weekend" of trying MSFS were due to your own inexperience with the software. I wonder what your first 2 days were like using P3D...

January 9, 20233 yr I’m in a similar situation as the OP. I just installed the sim a little over a week ago. I have only added the FBW A320 NEO but I have not flown yet. Setting different controllers for different aircraft can be a pain but thanks to a tip from another user I created “null” joystick profiles to assign when flying with a different controller. I have not been able to find a proper sensitivity setting for my Fulcrum One yoke. Just moving the controller the slightest creates too much movement on the aircraft. I’ll keep trying. I also downloaded one single livery for the FBW Neo and it doesn’t matter which community folder (I have various) I place it in it does not show in the sim. I am using Steam version. The flight training section I think it’s great. I have done the first two parts and I’ve been scoring “A’s”. I have not touched AI traffic or ATC yet. When I get frustrated I hop back into P3D and do a leg on the iFly 737MAX. I know it’s going to take me a while to get everything setup to my liking and learn the in and outs of MSFS but I’ll keep trying. I believe the scenery and airports look great so I don’t see myself getting scenery addons anytime soon. For aircraft addons I will probably fly the FBW for a while before buying something else. The sim has a lot of potential but most important I believe it’s going to save me some $$$ 😁
