TV as a display,

TV? you were lucky to have a TV. we used to have a one line 7-segment text display as our computer screen. you try to tell the young people of today that, and they won't believe you!

I had to live in a septic tank and just pretended that the side of the septic tank was a TV. I generated electricity for the device by peddling a rusty bicycle that gave me tetanus, resulting in lockjaw, that prevented me from singing for my dinner at the leper colony. Tell that to the young people today, and they won't believe you.

And by the way, am I the only person in this entire thread who doesn't already have a 4090? I feel impotent. 🙂

EDIT: I somehow ascribed the quote above to lanrivaldosmith when those were the comments of turbomax. I'm puzzled how that's even possible. I apologize.

I have a 3080ti so how do you think I feel here...

As for the latter point, you have magical abilities with the forum software.

From what I hear about Frame Gen it too is magical.  For those of you who think a 4090 is overpriced, you don't need a 4090 to have Frame Gen -- a 4080 or 4070ti will do it also.  And for a lot cheaper than a 4090.

Meh,  4080 are about 35% slower and they price from $1199-$1599 with a few at $1399.   4090 are $1599-$1999 depending on when/where you find it and which model.  I was going to pay $1300 for a 4080 and got lucky with a 4090 at $1599.

Anyone want to buy a 3080ti?  LOL

Well of course.  What in my post makes you think I support not going all-out?   You know better than that...

Do you want my 3080ti?    Maybe you can run SLI or something?

And if that's still all to expensive a 1080ti will do it combined with at a UN6000 series Samsung 4KTV

Can you have Frame Generation with TAA & also simultaneously select 120% Render Scaling?

Yes.

3060 ti is a great card at 1440p or less.

I had a 1080 ti and went to a 4080.  With frame gen I basically quadruple my fps in most situations.  And it's not just fps it's running tons of addons and panning in track IR is butter smooth.

Yes it did cost money hehe.  I spent 1400 USD on my 4080.

Ryan, how do you find the heat generation with the 40's as opposed to the 30 series of cards? The temps with my 3080 are typically in the 50's under load...what are your temps with the 40 when gaming?

Also, does it really double my frames if I'm already getting in the 60's in MSFS with my 3080 will I truly maintain 120 in msfs??? (sounds too good to be true, if you know what I mean).

si, certamente. I had a 3090 before my 4090. it adds another frame to each by inserting another "fake" frame that the CPU doesn't know about and did not have to calculate. did you not watch this posted earlier in this very thread?

@turbomax NO i haven't seen it yet, I know nothing at all about frame generation in msfs as I've not been flying much in the last 6 months and have just recently returned again for awhile so I haven't kept up. I will watch this and check it out, thanks so much for this 🙂

Not sure I would appreciate all that extra heat dumped into my case when I'm already feeling ok with my current performance (+10C/+50F)...but it is quite interesting nonetheless and food for thought. Will be interesting to see what the 50 series will bring to the table as far MSFS is concerned (and temps).

My understanding is that the 4x cards generate the same or less heat than the 3x ones.

Look at the TDP which is in watts / heat generated.

320w (3080) vs 450w (4090)...not likely to run as cool under load unless the built in coolers have improved.

My 3080 runs in the 50's very consistently, while under full load.
