Is Frame Generation Good For MSFS?

like turbomax said.  No you don't.  I have the 4090 and use a samsung TV that does not have the feature.  Totally smooth.

Frame generation is necessary if you want to fly something like Fenix A320 into YYZ or somewhere like that.

FPS without FG on ( with 4090 and I9 13900k at 5.5 GHZ)  - 28 FPS

With FG on - over 50 FPS

And works amazing.  Barely a stutter

I got my RTX 3090Ti in October 2022 and wish I hadn't. I am going to purchase a 4080 in a few weeks, as reading this thread has concreted my realization to the error I made in purchasing the 3090Ti. Will Amazon (purchased from Zotac) allow a return and refund after 6 months?

no hurry, I would wait another 6 months and ask then again.

3060 ti is a great card at 1440p or less.

I had a 1080 ti and went to a 4080.  With frame gen I basically quadruple my fps in most situations.  And it's not just fps it's running tons of addons and panning in track IR is butter smooth.

Yes it did cost money hehe.  I spent 1400 USD on my 4080.

What cpu do you have?

thanks

The 12700k is my bottleneck now.  One will always have a bottleneck though.  Doesn't really matter at 100 fps over NYC hehe.  With heavy payware it's more like 60-80.

Every system has a bottleneck somewhere. In his case it is almost certainly the CPU.

When you think about it, it's a little ironic that the card series that now produces frame generation -- the 4000 series -- is the same series that least needs frame generation. It was my old 1070 that truly needed frame generation.

Yep, but if they released FG on a previous architecture, then what's the point of upgrading?

AMD Ryzen R9 9950X3D | Asus Astral RTX 5080 OC | 32 GB DDR5 6000 CL30 | 3440x1440 G-Sync | Logitech Pro Throttles Rudder Yoke Panels | Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS | TrackIR 5 | Oculus Rift S

If you are in a cpu limited scenarios below 30 fps then frame generation will not help much, it will stutters with fg on. Staying above 30 fps is really important. So you should have a good cpu even if you have a 4000 series cards with fg.
