60 second pause is back, begging for help.

Still pausing.

So.. this is all good stuff 😉

Back to basics:

-Task Manager / processes / sorted by %CPU

Do you see anything happening, however brief, every 60 secs?

Thanks Bert, not yet.  I was doing the Performance Monitor thing as described by someone above.

I'm gonna try to upload the 128KB file if I can figure out how to as I don't know how to read the graphs.

During the same 152/KATL taxi routine this time the first pause happened at the 4:00 minute mark then every 60 seconds thereafter.

I can't post the file here, I don't know how to.  I'd love someone who knows how to read it have a look at it.

Hi Pete, I still have several pages of testing I need to before I do that.  And if I reinstall Windows it’s going to be a complete PC reformat and restoration.  I’m not that optimistic I’ll find the cause but I can try.  Cheers.

Some interesting news.  I thought it might have been fixed, but no. 😔

Here’s what I typed out.

Doing the Device manager USB/Power Management as described in a post above.

HID’s - Logitech USB Input Device (my mouse) was set to allow computer to turn of this device.  I unticked the box.

Same with the Razer Orbweaver.

Same with last 7 USB Input Devices, no idea which ones these are.

No others had power management selected.

I also disabled Bluetooth as I never use it.

Rebooted.

Taxiing.

At the 10:45 minute mark I got the first one.

Then 3:00 minutes later.

Then 4:00 minutes later.

Then 60 seconds.

Then 60 seconds.

Zip it up and upload it to Dropbox, then post the share link.  Just like you did with the earlier file...

If you know the exact time, it sure would help to know that, when reviewing the file though.. 😉

And you have ruled out heat (i.e. you have monitored gpu and cpu temps during these tests)?

Thanks Bert, I’ll do it later today (Sunday).

I’m afraid I didn’t think of that, however, I can run the scan again and mark the time as close as I can if you need me to.

Hi Mace, I have an app called MSI Afterburner, I think that’s the name.  Would that do it?

Also, can temps cause such a precise pause such as this?  And if so, why did it stop last July and suddenly reappear?  Just asking out of curiosity.

Thanks.

I only mentioned it because you said in your latest test, it was fine for about 10 minutes and then began the pause activity.  The thought was that it was heat throttling, but it's a long-shot.  I figure you'd have more problems besides a pause in the sim if you had heat issues.

I really don't think that's an issue for you but was curious if you had taken a look at temps while the sim was running.

I have a couple of simple apps I use to measure temps, and then a more complex app.  GPU-Z to measure gpu temps and RealTemp to measure cpu temps, they are both very simple apps. HWINFO is also a useful program that's even more in-depth.  But I very much doubt heat is a problem here.  I'd carry on with the rest of your tests.

Jack, glad to see you're still hanging in there. I just noticed something on my rig that might be of benefit. However, not knowing your exact configuration, I'm shooting in the dark here. I was looking at Task Mgr and noticed a cycle of about one second duration. I use an overlay by NZXT that monitors cpu and GPU temp, CPU and GPU load and cpu and GPU clock speed. Oddly this seems to poll the system every second. I don't however; notice any interruption in MSFS. Just didn't know if perhaps you have any overlay/external app similarly that is running concurrently. Hope you find it soon... Best of luck. Terry

Hi, thanks.  I’ve never heard of this overlay, at first when I read your post I thought it was a New Zealand airport 🙂 .  When I run Task Manager I see so very few things running because this PC simply doesn’t have a lot on it.  Just flight sim related things like Navigraph when I need it, the TDS GTN 750, and the usual suspects like audio drivers et al.

Yes, thanks Mace, it’s odd because sometimes it takes nine minutes to start and others it’s only 4 minutes but what is very odd is when I start the stopwatch exactly when I click the yellow start flight box it’s always an even number, down to the seconds, I mean 4:00 or 9:00.  It’s like this pause thing likes exact 60 second increments.
