It's not that, man. Testing it on a CPU bound scenario helps you to understand how it will handle situations like KLAX with lots of traffic + Study Level aircraft (PMDG or Fenix for example). That's the reason I think 1080p helps us (simmers) to understand how much gain we might have and differences between CPUs. When you use GPU bound tests, you won't know that. 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel

It's not at all difficult to be CPU bound with an RTX 4090, so your supposition is pur speculation. It also doesn't give professional reviewers much credit for being able to set up a simple test. Pity the testers don't show the dev performance window. Pity the testers don't show the dev performance window. We can infer with some reasonable logic. If the FPS went from 108 to 80 and all you did was up the resolution that would mean the GPU became the bottleneck. 1080p is the only way a general market tester can put a game in a CPU bound situation. The big reviewers need a metric that is consistent across all platforms. Trying to find the nuances of every game that limit it to a CPU scenario isn't realistic. We all know that you can load up the default C152 somewhere in Utah with TLOD of even 200 and watch the FPS fly off the screen. If you have a 4090 usually the FPS max out because of the CPU somewhere in the 80-90 range. Load up the Fenix with a 13900k or 5800x3D and a 30 series or 40 series and you tend to be CPU limited at 44-52 FPS, add in traffic and lose 8-10 depending on where you are. What we do know is the CPU is the major bottleneck when we start adding in all the things that people on these boards like to add in.

TLOD, for example increases CPU load as resolution rises. It's simple to create settings which keep you main thread limited at both 1080p and 4K. Give the testers a big of credit.
