Outside of the WU regions, where do you fly ?

Featured Replies

Excluding Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, NZ, Scandinavia, Spain, Swiss, the US, the UK have you a special place not yet covered by a WU where you love to fly ?

For me, it would be Greece. The mesh is not bad at all for the most part, the terrain sat imagery and autogen are  good (yes there are dubious trees here and there, tell me something new) and there are plenty of lovely freeware airports and buildings (70 in my Community so far and counting).

Plenty of short-haul flights in the mainland and in the islands.

Simming since 1981 -  [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam

South America, Africa, Himalayas (with the ORBX mesh) can be very good. I generally go in "waves" of flights so when a WU is released I'll spend a bulk of my time flying in that region before popping off elsewhere.

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

We, I am looking for a decent flight plan from Wakanda to Equatorial Kundu if anyone has one.  Supposed to be very scenic.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

I live in the Philippines and frequently travel around S.E Asia.

Would love to see updated scenery for Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos & Indonesia.

For me that would be Greece and the Aegean Sea in general as well. The scenery is very beautiful and there are some spectacular approaches. Moreover there are some excellent 3rd party addons, especially FlyTampa‘s Athens.

I also like flying to and from the eastern Adriatic coast.

Rio de Janeiro and the coast to the south is another place I frequently visit, especially because of the thrilling approach into Santos Dumont.

Himalayas (with the ORBX mesh)

Excellent region to fly with the big O mesh ! I've flown tens of hours in Central Asia, Pakistan Nepal and Northern India. But, there is a but, the sat imagery has degraded quite a bit these recent  months being replaced by the offline textures in large swaths. The official forum head honcho has acknowledged that the team knew the issue.

the indonesian string of volcanoes is pretty nice to fly... I love the Maluku Is. too (just because I am a nerd). Both the Papuas of course.

I spend quite some time flying round in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. Indonesia's islands are fun to fly to and PNG is bush flyer's heaven.

I also like Greece - beautiful island vistas and mountains, and I share your appreciation of the Moluccas as well as nearby Lesser Sundas (check the visible but missing Ruteng airport on Flores) and the strange coastlines of the Rajah Empat islands.  I'm also loving the ruggedness of PNG (and the Indonesian half), a bush pilot's paradise of challenging strips and even more challenging navigation to find them.

I'm finding Chile is exellent for flying especially now in the southern Summer, and there's a very active flightsim community making decent freeware.  Elsewhere in S. America, Brazil's Costa Verde (Rio to Florianopolis) can be gorgeous with plenty of little airports along the way.  With the recent launch of the RTMM area as a single package I've been buzzing around there as weather permits, and I've used the USA's flat square states as a playground for learning IFR on AAU1 Garmin glassware.

France has some excellent freeware (SimVol) and now is a good time to try out the Alpine Altiports, and I've found Sicily a beautiful good-weather zone during the European Winter.  While I mostly prefer rugged locations, I find flat-as-a-pancake Poland quite beautiful because of its patterned field layouts, though I can then get a quick taste of the bumpy Tatras in the south.  My favourite European wilderness is Norway's Hardangervidda (SE of Bergen towards Telemark), and of course that country's coastline is to die for!  Still haven't found Slartibartfast's signature...

Next... aiming at exploring my old backpacking routes in southern Africa; it was awful in FSX/P3D, but MSFS is a very different game 🙂

I have flown he Lesser Sundas back and forth  more than a couple of times, I love volcanoes 😄. Great with a warbird. But I have not been to the Rajah  Empat Is. yet.

When outside of Florida, I'm typically flying the Caribbean, Mexico, Central, and South America. Hoping one of the WUs in the near future will be either these areas or Africa.
