It is a commonplace false positive.  Happens with many products.  There are thousands of us out here using it after bypassing the warning screen.  It it were a true positive you would see many many posts here about it.

Has there ever been any actual and confirmed virus positives in any MSFS addon by a major developer?

While not for MSFS, the FSLabs Airbus comes to mind for P3D. They were trying to catch pirates.

I'm a simple human. I see a virus, i don't install. It's the first time I've seen it in this particular product. The only other one is the PMS750 giving a false positive but that was addressed by the dev. Not sure about this one, very little info on it. . .

Do you see how many hundreds of us just got destroyed by this warning?  Yes, we are unable to respond because we have been totally destroyed!  I deployed extra shields and klingons and survived.  At least for now.  So I can provide nothing in the way of assurances than I did previously. What importance anyway could be assigned to some seasonal scenery?  Better to do without than risk what could happen when hundreds or thousands experienced zero issues.

False positives like this are commonplace and validated by the masses.

If you got it from a reputable source i.e. the developer, then I wouldn't  be too concerned about what is probably a false positive.  If you got it from somewhere less safe, then I certainly would.

We can assure you this is a false positive.  When you develop a product that moves files back and forth on a machine it can easily get flagged.

We have reached out to the various companies to alert them including Microsoft.

We scan our software, servers, and systems daily.

Our recommendation is that you make it apart of your exception list in your antivirus software.

Here is our article about it: https://rexaxis.com/News/1144

The only times this course of action applies is when you get software from an unsecure place. As long as you use official channels and installers come from the companies that sell the product themselves, then you can be sure that any Anti-Virus warning is a false positive.

There's something wrong for a while with Windows Defender's scanning of compressed files that is producing A LOT of false positives.

Hopefully MS'll get it sorted soon but until then I use the Windows 11 Sandbox to download and extract the contents of any files that cause a problem.

You can't be too concerned about viruses or system security in the first place if you are using Defender as it is.

Very true.

I'm afraid that's not true. For most users defender is more than good enough to catch the threats you will be exposed to.

Defender + Malware Bytes = winning formula

ESET.  No impact on performance and still VB100 rated after all these years for stopping intrusions.
