May 3, 20233 yr Is there a noticeable performance difference between 16GB and 32GB of RAM AMD Ryzen 7 5800x 3080Ti Edited May 3, 20233 yr by ErichB
May 3, 20233 yr Nope, I and a number of others have upgraded from 16 gb to 32 gb and reported no difference was noticed. Have a look at your RAM usage in developer mode and you will see that it rarely goes above 12 gb. Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
May 3, 20233 yr Depends if you use those 3d goggle thingummyjigs I think. If you don't, 16 is enough. 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base
May 3, 20233 yr The upgrade from 16GB to 32GB made a difference back in the day, but recent optimisations seem to have reduced the need for large amounts of ram. Unless you are using a VR headset as mentioned above - in which case the more RAM the better.
May 3, 20233 yr Another factor is if you are also running several other flight sim apps while using MSFS at the same time. Just something to thing about. It may not affect your PC use of ram more than 16GB or it could depending on what all you use at the same time as MSFS. AMD Ryzen 9900X3D & ASUS X870E Gaming Plus MB, w/64 Gb GSkill DDR5 RAM, PNY RTX 5090 GPU, lots of SSD's and M.2 drives, HAVN Case, Virpil VPC Panels 2 and 3, Virpil Constellation Alpha Stick, Virpil Rotor TCS Plus w/ Hawk-60 Collective grip, TM TCA Yoke Boeing Edition, TM HOTAS A-10 and F/A-18 Sticks and TM TPR Rudder pedals. Currently on Win11
May 3, 20233 yr As others have said, not for MSFS I think. If however you venture into a combat sim like DCS World, even 64GB is very much worth it. But if you'll strictly be flying MSFS, you'll be good.
May 3, 20233 yr I have situations in congested areas with lots of add-ons where my RAM usage is between 18 and 20 GB. - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).

Me too, i use 64 GB and those more ore less not to be used but i would suggest 32 GB of RAM . cheers 😉 08.2024 new PC is online : ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI Mainboard, AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950X3D Prozessor, G.Skill DIMM 64 GB DDR5-6000 (2x 32 GB) Dual-Kit, MSI GeForce RTX 4090 VENTUS 3X E 24G OC Grafikkarte, 2x WD Black SN850X NVMe SSD 4 TB - Drive C+D, WD Gold Enterprise Class 12 TB for storage HDD, Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1000W PC - Power supply, Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO CPU Aircooler with 7 Heatpipes, Design Meshify 2 White TG Clear Tint Tower-Case, 3x 4K monitors 2x32 Samsung 1x27 LG 3840x2160, Windows11 Prof. 23H2 - now Windows11 Prof. 25H2 Flightsimulator Hardware: Honeycomb Throttle Bravo, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, Logitech Flight Joke System, XBox Controller, some Thrustmaster stuff, Winwing CDU Panels.
May 3, 20233 yr I have 32Gb installed in my system. MSFS uses right around 16GB on every flight, but I have never seen it use more than that. i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440
May 4, 20233 yr 32gb of Ram was a scam and so was 24gb of Ram on the Video card. A good rule of thumb for if you are being scammed is that it is azoy monumentally likely. On the other hand 8GB VRAM was clearly not enough - there are going to be heaps of really cheap 3070 cards on the market shortly as heaps of new games crash or run slowly with 8GB of VRAM (Last of Us - Part 1, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Hogwarts Legacy, Doom Eternal, Callisto Protocol, Witcher 3, Forspoken to name just a few. ) People are actually ghetto modding 3070s to fit 16GB VRAM ram or swapping the 3070 out for the A4000 which is basically a downclocked 3070 with 16GB VRAM . Sure 24GB seems to still be overkill but the absolute minimum for newer games, especially with RT enabled is 12GB with 16GB preferable.
May 4, 20233 yr I think I use about 14 or so GB of my 32GB of ram.. The Intel Arc A770 with 16GB is a good choice considering it is in the 3060/3060Ti range at $350. I'm contemplating selling my 3070ti while it still has some value? I may just get a 4080 even if I have a slight bottleneck with my i7-10700k.
