June 8, 2025Jun 8 Has anyone flown through a storm in a light aircraft in the beta yet? I'm reading more reports of a shear lack of turbulence and wind effects, disappointing if true. June 8, 2025Jun 8 One thing I find a pity : in Fs 2020 all clouds were perfectly sync’d when using 2 view pc’s ( types, structure and coördinates ) , where in Fs 2024 several cloud types are not. 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0

No doubt I’ll be back to try 24 at some point, I’m just morbidly curious as to which direction it’s gonna take in the next 5 years

Nearest airfield was LKCO. I jumped into the C172 and took off. Lightning and thunder, rain and very bumpy air. It was fun. So I have no clue who reports stuff like that but at least at this more or less random location I had lots of turbulence etc. in live weather in SU 3 Beta.

Reports of people finding lack of turbulence effects in storm clouds, discord, official forums etc Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1 Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)
June 8, 2025Jun 8 Put it this way, I haven't found any reason to fear thunderstorms in any aircraft in FS 24. Might be more bumps and shear effects. But definitely no intense updrafts and downdrafts. No CB clouds so the overcast layer your above presents no signs until you descend and find lightning. Kinda frustrating because the metar for the airport I flew into was accurate however it doesnt have the reports of the TS surrounding the airport and that I flew through. That said it is progress and at least were back to having summer storms where they belong.
June 9, 2025Jun 9 In small aircraft you will feel the turbulence, but not in the big jets. Been this way since launch, I remember flying into a storm in the C172 in the first week and getting thrown around. (and I'm not talking advertised changes, there are plenty of things messed with that they don't announce) To me its one of the big negatives of a streamed game, they can change the content whenever they desire...and they frequently do, it was evident with 2020 and continues. You can't know what you are going to get when buying because its always being changed. If something isn't mentioned in the changelog it's a mistake, not intentional. June 9, 2025Jun 9 My problem is that the thunderstorms especially when more isolated in nature and especially in the western US tend to be very short (no more that 20k tops and dont act anything like a dangerous thunderstorm. They never have and never will I am afraid. I'd like to see some 35-60k tops with a large anvil that spreads out over miles. But I'm not holding my breath. The issue for me is that you can make convincing looking/acting thunderstorms with out live weather so why can we get good ones in live weather. Its been 5 years almost and live weather fthunderstorms still are extremely lack luster. Active Sky doesnt reall do it either. It makes Ice Cream cone shaped tall clouds with no anvil.
June 9, 2025Jun 9 I don't think the lightening implementation is too bad and I don't want to complain to Asobo about it for obvious reasons lol. The good thing is that the really intense lightning doesn't always happen and it seems to correlate with denser storms. One thing I do really appreciate is the ability to see lightening way off in the distance which hardly (if ever) happened in 2020 5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX 9070XT.
June 24, 2025Jun 24 Just flew through some in cloud lightening with associated booms in 2020 SU16 Beta approaching KABQ. Was quite surprised as I hadn’t seen or heard lightening in 2020 for quite awhile. YMMV TANSTAAFL -B
