FS11 Wish List

To be able to perform adequately* on TODAY's mid-high end PCs without having to spend thousands for upgrading.* Constant 15+ fps with all options ON.Rest have already been mentioned, most important for me would be lighting (environment, aprons, landing lights etc), weather (overcasts, fog, rain, shadows), flight dynamics and correct ground handling (tire friction etc)George DorkofikisAthens, Hellashttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/811520/1704.png

Most of my personal wishlist has already been mentioned, but I would like to expand on one point;Sloping Runways, or rather ultra-high resolution mesh for use around airports - that would allow for sloping runway, taxiways, different apron elevations, allow for multi-level terminals, ridges, inset streams within airport boundaries. I would also like to see a rethink from Microsoft on how they can bring scenery design forward - XML Commands are fine for AFCAD-Type scenery, but completely useless fo rich, authentic mapping - perhaps this can be intergrated with the Ultra-High Resolution mesh - i.e allow layering of textures to be linked with the mesh.A second point would be to allow coded-interaction for Scenery - allow C++ Code to control airport objects, mainly for A) Security, commercial software developers have little inbuilt security past the installer to provent unlawful activity, and :( allow for user interaction i.e controlling lights, hanger doors, crossing area, etc. That all, fow now :D

1. Realistic Lighting like these jaw dropping scenes by windmark...http://windwardmark.net/products.php?page=...⊂=technologyhttp://windwardmark.net/images/screenshots...ght/urban33.jpg2. Cloud Shadows3. Grass on airfields similar to the grass/weeds in the preview shots of Train Sim 2.4. More detailed taxiways with dirt/oil/tyre marks and higher resolution textures. In my opinion, MS should not waste its resources on creating more aircraft and complicated FMC's, there is a whole load of developers out there who can do a better job. They should focus their efforts on improving the graphics engine and delivering a stable, bug free release.

Blanket overcast.Anvil thunderheads.Wind shear & warning alert!More photo-scenery areas.Much improved 747 default, while we wait thenecessary months for the big addons.Peter Sydney Australia

I know I am in the minority here. But I have been asking for more accurate ATC for years. Correct sounding ATC would go a long way in moving this program from a "game" to a true simulator status IMO.

Oh yeah...couple of more important Items I forgot.1. I want the ability to crash when the aircraft hits any object like Buildings, Towers.. even the payware ones. This way, when I am flying in IMC (in the soup) and I run into objects, I know that I failed. As of now, I can run through buildings and towers without crashing and not even know it... even with Crash detection on.2. Add blue haze/Hue to distant objects. Distant mountains should have a blue hue like in real life. A sort of Blue filter lens option. Not sure how this is possible. But it would be great!3. Failure simulation should have Probability % parameter added. Meaning.. Yes.. I want an Engine failure after 15 min... with 5% factor. This way, I don't want to anticipate an engine failure with 100% certainty. This way, I can a cfg file with various systems and its corresponding %age of probability of failure and then forget about. And each time I fly there is a balanced probability of failure like in the real world.http://www.123himachal.com/dasaguide_files/blue_mountain.jpgManny

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

I've said this before, but I would love the option to select my starting position from a map of the airfield..This will eliminate the guess work from finding a suitable gate from the current drop down list. Steve

1. Graphics engine - scrap it. License Windmark or Cryengine.2. No more "texture roads" - only real roads.3. Autogen - scrap and redevelop to appear according to the real roads.4. Moving people everywhere.5. No more sudden wind changes.6. No more flat runways.7. Good fps on current AND older hardware (see Crysis).8. Multiplayer: integrate AI and real players9. 64 bit, multi core, SLI, DX 10.1/11 support10. Outer space simulation

For FS11 I would be happy with an updated version of FSX with all sliders right that can run at a min of 30FPS in any condition on a 'good' PC!Oh, and maybe fix the problem with AI aircraft turning 'black' beyond a certain range.Glenn

What I would like is the ability for bones to be inner actable with the environment - bones that contain laws of physics. For those who don't know what bones are - they simply can be part of scenery and when present they are able to move the skinned mesh surrounding 3D objects. Wing Flex uses bones, Flags blowing in the wind have bones. I have been currently working on animating trees using bones. When you get close the trees they look as if they are blowing in the wind. The problem is that the trees only contain a set animation. What i would like is for the trees to be intractable. If you hit a tree bone with a airplane the tree should bend. Or if you hit scenery with your wing the wings would fall off. Many new games contain this - like crysis. You can move, break, or destroy any piece of scenery.

This is my list - it has only two points, but more words for each of them.1) Fixing the "systemic" issue of the "desert world" in FSX. A small global terrain review should be included in the development plan early enough to allow for fixing of issues that may be found. I recognize that it is impossible for ACES to have a detailed look at the entire planet, but an issue of the scale of vast amounts of desert textures in lots of places across the US and Europe where they don't belong should have been corrected.2) More emphasis on the functionality of the cockpit, especially the VC. This point is not about system depth; i disagree with the above statement:> Please don't bother with building> aircrafts that you are not going> to do complete.Depending on your definition of "complete", you would then get one, or maybe two, aircraft from ACES in FS11 - if they invested a comparable amount of time and resources on planes. They have instead made a conscious design decision on the system depth they do, and the resulting number of planes they can create, and I can live with that.(And there *are* people who actually fly their planes... I'm one of them)But I would like to see more consistency in the availability of functions/switches, bothA) across different aircraft, and:( in the VC as compared to the 2D-cockpit (including sub-windows)I may be wrong, but I have a feeling that currently, each aircraft is treated separately with regard to the decision which gauges/switches are fitted. This leaves us with some excellent aircraft that can be flown completely from the VC, and some which cannot (except if you know a lot of key commands for functions that are "usually" available for clicking).I would wish that ACES made some plan (better than the existing one) to assure a better availability of "standard" functions across aircraft types. I will now draw up such a plan *just* to get the idea across what I have in mind... of course the professionals would come up with something much better.1)Create a single list with what you regard as "standard" features. My idea: take all gauges/switches of all aircraft currently in FSX, except features that are unique for single aircraft (e.g. retractable floats). Drop those things off the list that are not essential to get the craft from A to B from a cold-and-dark situation (e.g. no-smoking-sign)2)Order the list. It will need some sub-sections (e.g. "jets", "turboprops" etc. as the list will contain controls for both)3)For each aircraft built, use a copy of that list. Drop items that aren't available on the type. Add those that are specific to the type.4)Build everything on the list into the 2D-Panel. For the VC, drop only items that are too framerate-degrading, or too complex/time consuming to integrate into the VC.Now we have an avionics switch in every plane that has an avionics bus. All airliners have a clickable autobrake control (A321 anyone?). All basic controls are always there. And for all planes, a detailed specific checklist for each available item is immediately available for developing/testing.I believe that this would also help the beginner audience, those that had FSX bought by grandma and have yet to discover Avsim.---I wonder if Avsim could produce some kind of voting mechanism. Imagine that each registered Avsim member could give 3 (or so) votes for any of the ideas in this thread... and there would be a nice chart showing all items from the wish-list, nicely ordered by priority for this community. A little piece of cost-free market research for ACES, in our interest ;-)nbz

#1I see lots of wishing for an improvement on ATC handling to be more realistic, but nobody has yet said anything about Updatable navaid information provided by the likes of jeppesen or even an external program that compiles the FAA information directly, then updates the BGL files to the current version, moves runways and edits the Mag Variation to current to allow for exact up-to-date training in FS.Don't get me wrong, its not difficult to make up for the out-of-date information, but tuning in 350 on a VOR approach with an 18nm course only to find out that 2 years ago, the radial was 348 and you're 2 miles off course due to the out-of-date material is kindof a letdown after an otherwise perfect flight.#2Volumetric clouds/dust/water/smoke#3Atmospheric averaging with update smoothing - too often, around the Daytona Beach area, there are multiple reporting stations that while on a single approach, the weather will change and the low-level clouds will pop into sight, the wind will change drastically from 20-30 degrees difference, then the weather stabilizes for a few secs, then I'm near station #3 and it all happens again. It loses me from the immersion during these changes.#4This may be a bit of a dream and I am a VATSIM pilot, but the people who pioneered the biggest SDK for Voice Recognition for developpers is probably more apt to help someone with their own company design true voice integration into the sim with support for a PTT. Ultimate realism and immersion would be key to putting the "other sim" out on the porch for a while. I tend to fly to places that have little or no activity when I'm online and hate to cater my flying to the places that ATC happens to be on, thus FS ATC is sometimes all I have to rely on.
