June 8, 20232 yr We can rule out they want us to see them, because then they would have already made their presence here obvious. Anyone or anything out there who/that wants to know what our civilization is like, can easily monitor our entertainment and news broadcasts. Their first communication to us may be something like: "Stop with all these reruns"! or "Bring back Captain Kirk!" Or whispered among themselves, "Let us wait a few centuries for evidence of greater intelligence". 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. June 8, 20232 yr I think many want there to be Aliens in the hope they will save us from ourselves ... AI with some DNA modification. But the word "Alien" comes with a negative connotation, alternate life form would be more appropriate rather than stereotyping (but that's what we humans do best). Currently technology limitations reveal about 2 trillion galaxies ... about 1026 planets (100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) in the observable. it would be mathematically improbable that Earth contains the only life forms in our observable universe.

June 8, 20232 yr Author Interestingly, he made his complaint to the intelligence community Inspector General. Now it gets Interesting, because he was represented by an attorney. A prominent DC attorney, who used to be the Inspector General of the intelligence community himself. He allegedly deemed his complaint to be valid and urgent. Edited June 8, 20232 yr by martin-w

But technological life on Earth took 1/4 of the age of the universe to arrive. Which suggests that technological life is hard. Primitive life on Earth appeared as soon as the Earth cooled. If its true that there are technologically advanced species out there, the question to ask is, if it's possible to develop the means to travel the unfathomably huge distances to get here in a reasonable timeframe. I have no doubt that they've been watching us for quite some time, especially once we discovered nuclear energy. They likely know us quite well, and are also likely very concerned about us advancing further and moving out into the universe. Imagine what you would think if you saw all the bad things that humans do on earth on a daily basis, not to mention our ugly history full of savagery. Now imagine that these humans develop fusion power... I'd be worried if I were them. June 8, 20232 yr So an advanced alien species can travel millions of light years to Earth but gets easily captured when they get here. I don't think so. Mark CYYZ

But if these claims are true, and we are being visited by alien's, then to traverse the immense distances involved to reach this planet they would require a technology orders of magnitude greater than ours, perhaps thousands of years in advance of ours. In which case they would have no fear of us and our primitive technology. Fusion rockets could have a specific impulse of something like 135,000 seconds. Impressive, but utterly primitive to our alien friends. Fusion rockets may enable us to colonize this solar system, and Proxima Centauri in a century, but anything beyond is going to require a technology much more exotic and way into the future.

June 8, 20232 yr These aliens travel through wormholes, bend space and time to get here. So I always wonder why they need to turn on lights after their arrival into the earth's atmosphere?🤪 Peter Webber MSFS 2020 & 2024 / Windows 11 / Intel Core Ultra 7 265KF / MSI Pro Z890-S WIFI / Samsung 970 EVO PLUS M.2 500GB / Corsair Vengeance DDR5 48GB 7000MHz / MSI Geforce RTX 4070Ti Super

Fusion power would NOT provide sufficient energy to travel those distances in any reasonable timeframe ... even combining Anti-matter (which is real) with matter wouldn't provide sufficient energy is a transportable form. Black holes (which are real) would be best energy option but how would one stabilize the energy so as to be usable?

I'm curious how you know what kind of technology would be required in order to travel many light years in a reasonable amount of time? How do you know that antimatter would not be sufficient? It is entirely possible that fusion power would be enough to power a propulsion system that would allow one to travel a light year in a single day, or hour, or minute, *without exceeding the speed of light*. After all, if the aliens can do it, then eventually we will be able to as well, provided that we don't destroy our civilization because of our belligerence.
