Guess the "glorified google earther viewer" in 2024 form is not a bad google earth viewer at all

I’ve never had a problem with the idea of the scenery taking equal priority to the avionics etc.

If I had the time / money to maintain a real GA aircraft, it would be as a tool to see the world, not to become an expert on its cylinder stress factors (understand that’s also necessary).

The new trend now is saying Asobo has setups running X-plane daily in their studio, so they can copy the flight model. Austin received this complaint through his e-mail

That’s not new. If you’ve seen the actual email, it’s batpoo nuts. And then spread around by other XP devs along with their own ‘seeds of suspicion’ that their XP planes had been copied, finally forcing Matt from WT to confirm that…ok, that’s not true.

Why are people so against other platforms.  What do you have against xplane, does it affect your enjoyment?

I never understood this community so much against other simulators.

On my part, it's just a joke. LOL

I'm a former X-plane user. So, I don't have anything against the simulator or its devs.

I wasn't aware until now, after that recent interview. I was perplexed. Never thought he would go so low.

Most of the new hires are working on getting PAPI lights and ILS approaches working properly. Nah... Just joking, no one is working on that. Little Johnny has to be rescued from the cliff with the helicopter.

After all what has been divulged about MSFS 2024 in this Expo presentation if all you're getting from it is "little johnny has to be rescued from the cliff" then you are just embarrassing yourself in your attempts keep disparaging MSFS because they didn't touch on the specific topic of PAPI lights and ILS approaches in this 20 min expo presentation lol... but please, tell us more.

Only if you take things too serious, man.

You're right of course. Who needs any of that silly stuff like PAPI lights and ILS approaches in a flight simulator? We're on to bigger things now. I'll try to get my head straight.

Absolutely, and in an ideal flight sim, all of scenery, flight dynamics, avionics, etc would have equal priority in terms of being made as real as possible. The legacy sim thinking (or those whose pet sims can only do one or two of those in a good way) try to propagate this either/or myth and ethos of how a sim should be made. With enough skills and resource and developers, pushing ahead on all these fronts is quite possible, and that certainly is what MS/Asobo seem to be doing with their ongoing and increased investment in MSFS.

Do you realize how for this presentation they had to talk in terms of high level topics within the 20 minutes? So just because PAPI lights weren't specifically mentioned that therefore means it's not being improved in 2024? Are you that clairvoyant? At the very least you do admit from what you newly learned today that 2024 is more than just about helicopter rescue right?

Nah, they’ll be ok. The hobby needs them now more than ever to make sure MS doesn’t get a complete monopoly.

They haven't revealed everything coming in 2024. Be patient.

AVsim has always been much worse than reddit.

Looks like we can relax from all that doom and gloom from when MS downsized.
