MSFS at Gamescom @ 11:11AM Eastern

This can't be it - Microsoft didn't send them to a game conference to just man a booth and give a 6 minute presentation. There's a bit to go yet, I'm sure they'll have a showcase or something to release further.

Because they are exciting and interesting the only thing I'd rather see them build than these would be something like a Convair 880 or 990... Modern jets are boring..

Couldn't agree more, those are boring too.

I watched Gamescom live show 2hrs flight sim never got a look in, Game Pass clip showed a few seconds of an aircraft flying but it`s more about big games coming out. Phil Spencer accepted an award for MS for hardware design reducing power draw needed to play games, Funny when desktop PC`s are drawing more power out of the socket, but for heat being a block a 1KW PC would be on the horizon

Without it Phil Spencer would never have been allowed to spend the money on bringing it back form the dead for Game Pass. Same with TSM. The numbers still don`t add up still a niche product not main stream. C.O.D and Starfield will hit the millions in active players.

True.  As much as I don't like the Xbox angle, it helps keep MSFS alive and under constant development.
I think it has only slightly affected the 'quality', as we have plenty of PC specific settings and sliders to pull things back.

If I was at the top of MS, I would probably be making the same decision on it.
Like people have said, the primary focus is on making money and paying the shareholders a dividend.
I get the feeling they really do want to do the best for the end user where they can, but we will always come second to the money, and we have to accept it.
Anybody who thinks otherwise does not understand the way of the world.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Hopefully in the future we will have the option of a PC version and another version for Xbox.

That is what a lot of us hoped for Polo when we heard it was going over to Xbox as well.

Unfortunately, from quite early, MS / Asobo said they said they want one development stream only, with a few specific changes for the PC here and there if needed, mainly on the in-sim settings sliders (as we have seen).  Sometimes this was talked about in the Twitch streams, as you would expect.

They mentioned the extra cost and extra complications with having two different code streams with what they see as one product, and they thought they could pull it off with basically one code stream, which they have in the main if we are honest about it.

@ludekbrno Is technically correct, SU5 never did break the Sim in any way, if it did then all hell would've broken loose. What SU5 did however was to blatantly downgrade the product on PC for Xbox users to come in line, this is evident through the mountains of threads both here & on the official forum at the time of it's release. It's been discussed ad infinitum, but please do go on 😄

Still got sand in your ears!? Downgrade of the graphical fidelity of the clouds was proven, as was the LOD reduction 🙄
