September 5, 20232 yr If someone could confirm a slight performance optimisation in this beta I would be grateful. Or maybe it is just the removal of something that was sapping performance before. I can't go above 60 FPS anyway as that is all my 4k monitor can achieve, but in early testing, it didn't dip below 60, and I couldn't detect stuttering; it seemed silky smooth, with just the odd scenery loading micro-pause a few times (expected). But the main point that stood out for me was going back through a temperature trace for the CPU. It is a relatively hot night in the UK tonight, but even when throwing the B787 around, my core temps never went above 87C (most were between 83-85C) - strange! I am normally struggling to keep them under 93-94C on the 13900. The only thing I can think of is a bit of optimisation, or removal of something that was sapping performance previously. I am sincerely hoping it isn't a fluke! I have not tried DX12 yet - some people had stuttering previously so I hope that is fixed for them. I would rather think about what BETAs are actually designed for and if you are the right person to parcipitate in such a BETA... obviously not, as you treat it like a regular update, which is NOT the case... September 6, 20232 yr For me the beta is as smooth in DX12 as its ever been. I am running 2k with an old GTX1080ti on a GSync monitor. FPS? meh - 25-50 depending. I don't care. The Worlds updates are still donwloading - my Internet is 2010 level - 25Mbits if I'm lucky. But this is UK 2023 in the countryside, so what do you expect?
September 6, 20232 yr I don't think memory leak is the right thing to call it, but if I fly long enough, the GPU line starts to turn red in Dev Mode. Stutters. The flights start up fine, even in dense airports, but after a long while the same issue above seems to always happen. Closing and rebooting MSFS instantly cures the problem. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Task Manager, then expand flightsimulator.exe. fsuipc was underneath flightsimulator.exe. I exited fsuipc in task manager and the problem went away completely. (It took me an hour closing stuff in Task Manager to find the culprit). The stutters fsuipc caused were about 1 second apart, a steady stream, which always starts after an hour or two of flying. Some addon I added to MSFS uses FSUPIC and calls it up when MSFS starts. It's really that addon (whatever it is), not fsuipc itself that is the culprit. I got rid of it as I wasn't really using it anyway - If the wheels are still on after landing, basically I am happy!
