I thought I would start a topic here as the following post was deemed to be too offencive for the similarly named topic on the official forum.  I hope that the mods here are more forgiving:

Flew to Moscow in the 172 and landed in Red Square today with live time and weather on. Better not drink tea and keep away from high buildings for the time being I guess.

Not as difficult as I was expecting for such a small landing area (or I was just lucky to get it right first time).

Never done that flight before today, surprisingly.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I see this topic loaded onto the official forums each day?  I've never seen it get removed and it generates some great activity and discussion, so what do you mean by your post?

did the flight plan and didn't notice that the departing runway at SBJR was only 4301 feet. So I installed the short field runway add on

Usually I notice the runway is too short when I am approaching the end of the runway on take off roll lol...

I guess it was the bit about not drinking tea and avoiding high buildings they objected to even if it would have been a sensible precaution had it been done in real life 🙂

In my second trip around the world - this time finding new places and challenges.  Currently working my way around Patagonia.

Today's flight was from SAWC (El Calafate, Argentina) to SCRF (Laguna San Rafael, Chile) in the C208B.  SAWC was controlled airspace and I filed IFR for the first part of the flight then went to flight-following to go into SCRF (an uncontrolled 2900' strip at the end of a fjord (and just past a glacier).

I had to skirt a storm about halfway there (moderate to medium rain) - picked up a little ice with the cool temperatures which the deicing system handled.  Went back to IFR to climb above and later descend through the cloud cover, skirting the mountain ridges at about 1000' above.

I attempted to set up a hold to descend to approach altitude at the g1000-generated IF for a straight in approach to the little strip, put it would have cycled me through a cliff.  I'm sure there is a way with the system to set up opposite direction turns.  For today I just descended manually out over the bay and returned to the IF.

Took the Bell 206 north of CYVR for a flight around Stave Glacier. High-altitude lakeshore landings, ridge landings.

MUC-KHG in the 737-700 Lucky Air, about 6 1/2 hours. KHG could potentially be a good hub for a low cost carrier. Plenty of tourist attractions, the Silk Road. It looks like the 737-700 can get to London, Tokyo, Addis Ababa, Jakarta etc. nonstop from there. Most of Asia and Europe and at least a chunk of Africa, so would make an interesting hub for single aisle cheap flight operations.
