New B747-8 FMC flight planning problem

Featured Replies

I am very happy with the new updated Working Title B747-8, as it is a great advance over the original Asobo 747, specially after SU13, the Simbrief integration, the reappearance of the missing VOR and APP mode displays, etc.

But in my case, the simbrief integration works partially, I can select a Simbrief plan within the FMC, load and activate it, but  it doesnt allow to select the takeoff runway at the route page. All other flight planning settings work OK, but when selecting the runway, the message shows "key not active" and consequently that inhibits setting takeoff speeds, CG setting, etc.- Strangely, there is no problem when using the MSFS World Map planning facility, as before the update.

I used the B748 yesterday and had no difficulty importing my FP from Simbrief. I could also input the runway manually using the appropriate page for that (Dep/Arr) and selected my SID. All Take-off speeds were properly shown.

Flown the 787 yesterday and it worked with the DEP/ARR airports.

Only in the EFB, i could not choose the airport (no way to enter letters) for takeoff calc. Tailstrike was the result 😄

There is basically the same WT code behind both machines regarding FMC, etc... 🙄

Watch the two short tutorials published yesterday if you haven’t (Linked above). Everything that is needed to be done to make it all work is explained very well.
Good luck,

Good B747 flight planning tutorial, it solved my issue.-

It seems that the FMC only loads the last SimBrief generated plan, you cannot choose between other plans, as is can be done at the B737 NG

The PMDG 737 NG doesn’t have direct simbrief integration. Were you using the downloader that saves all the routes in a folder.

Yes, the Simbrief downloader saves the plans at a PDMG folder, as also to the MSFS Local State folder, from where I thought the B747 FMC fetches the plan

You can load an other saved Simbrief plan at Simbrief than Generate plan again, after generated this one is the aktual Plan and you can load that one into the CDU.

So you can do it with all your saved Siembrief plans..

cheers 😉

Did you try pressing the “ copy from FMC” option on the EFB ? That should import the airport data if there’s a route in the FMC ?

It should actually also import the sensed temperature from the EICAS into the EFB on the real aircraft but I notice this requires manual input in the sim version.
