Live Weather down is frustrating. Personally, I can’t / don’t fly without it, so I’m parked for a while. However, it isn’t a frequent problem, and venting on Avsim is clearly NOT going to the ‘cardealer to get it fixed’.

Wrong, I submitted a message in the official forum first, then I came here to share the constant live weather problem (and the very slow download speeds). This is a real MSFS weak point.

Lets dumb it down for you:

If i buy a product that offers specific functions and one of them isnt working, i expect the one producing what i bought to fix it.

No. MeteoBlue still supplies the majority of MSFS Live Weather. METARS are only used for airport surface weather. Most of the clouds, all winds and temperatures aloft etc. come from MeteoBlue just as it always has.

OK, I just noticed this. I use Avlasoft EFB which gives both enroute weather and approach and departure Metars, the enroute weather is accurate, only the airport Metars are absent.

EU servers are down here. I live in the Netherlands and get only EAST USA connected.. rediculous.

The server list you see (and can choose) is for multiplayer use only.

The listed server(s) have absolutely nothing to do with where you connect to get streaming scenery, live weather or any other MSFS service (aside from multiplayer). As an end user of the sim, you have no control over that. MSFS internally chooses what servers it connects to for scenery, weather etc. based on your location.

If you are on Beta 14 then the US East multiplayer server is the only one you’ll see, no matter where in the world you are located. They are testing something in the multiplayer system as part of the beta, and have restricted access solely to the US East MP server for now.

You are probably on the SU14B, that's the only multiplayer server available, all the beta testers are connected to it. And the multiplayer server has nothing to do with weather.

So, you can’t think of a reason why cars, whose manufacture, sale and maintenance require rigorous regulatory testing and oversight, whose users require testing and licensing to use, and whose subsequent use in society needs to be insured, may not be a suitable analogy for gaming software…?

meh, the weather (especially the clouds and general atmosphere) pretty much suck anyway so... no loss here.
